Is it as good as it looks? Because it looks amazing.

I know it'll be deep into 2021 before I get a chance to visit but it's top of the list. Well, actually La Poma bikepark is but Cornwall is a shorter drive than Barcelona (6 hours vs 20).

I've got a proper DJ bike, but I've also got a few white hairs and a stiff back. I haven't sailed gracefully through a rhythm section for well over 10 years. I'm stuck in a rut. All my local spots are either not that good, or they're really good for people who can already send massive jumps.

I want to go somewhere packed with jumps of all sizes and hopefully spend a couple of days putting some lines together and getting my pop back.

Are there any locals on here? Anyone spent a day or a weekend there?

Hopefully, when we're allowed to play out next year and there's a dry, bright weekend I'll drive down after work on a Friday night and sleep in the van. Then drive home Sunday evening.

Yes, it's great. Absolutely worth a visit.

My kids learnt how to ride rollers properly there, and Sam Pilgrim rode there in a video he did a few weeks ago. If you've the stones the gap lines are pretty giant and well maintained.

Make a proper road trip out of it and spend a day at Bike Park Kernow or Woody's too?

Yes. Best days riding I have done this year. I rode a BMX, jump bike is best IMO as they look like more of a margin for error. Saw a few people on trail bikes / "enduro sledge" but jump bike was the preferred machine. Jumps from easy rollers to get you going to some good size gaps. People of all ages. I was there with an old boys group. I was middle ages range at 39 mates in their 50s. Intermediate line is very doable IMO. Wind got up in the afternoon I was there, am was best but don't know if that's normal.

Lovely beaches near by to pop for a swim / paddle in the evening.

Their website is a pain in the arse to do the covid bookings. Seem to have bought the worst bit of software in the world!

I'll just add I was in similar position to you. Had not ridden any dirt line for 10+ years and the local dirt jumps and private + for the big boys! So starter on the rollers and progressed to the mid size line on the left, didn't quite get to manage the berm jump but I was just too tired. Really good to get comfortable and progress.

That sounds like exactly what I need. I've got a bunch of local spots but I've just lost the technique for popping a transition and I can't bring myself to just send it on the massive gaps. At the minute I'm just like a flying sack of potatoes with zero technique.

I just need a spot with a lot of variety so I can spend a couple of days remembering how to ride. Then hopefully take the skills to back to other places.

Realistically it's going to be March or April before I get there. I might try out the Dirt Factory in Manchester first.

Did the Portreath - Devoran coast to coast last week while I was down there for a break. Had no idea I basically rode past that!

Never been but we used to stay in a holiday farm cottage (higher laity farm) for a few summers and you could see the track, across a few fields, from the cottage. Can highly recommend the accommodation if you want something nearby.

It is good, quite susceptible to wind though. Police valley is only 10-15 minute drive as well if you want some downhill stuff on your trip too.

Thanks, I'd already spotted that on the map, it's just over the road. If you say it's good I'll give it a try.

Are there many other places like this in the country? I've liked the idea of going for a long time but it's just so far away, Van road in Caerphilly looks similar style and Phoenix mtb near Newmarket again has progressive jumps but bit been to any of them yet.

There's a few dotted around but nothing as big with as many options. Where are you based? The BMX track at Leeds urban bikepark is alright.

Thanks for the reminder of Van Road but is it still active? I thought it was being turned into a housing estate. That would be an alright stop over on the way home from Cornwall.

Never heard of Phoenix but it looks really good. I'll stick it on the hitlist.

Used to be handy with Clint setting up shop there, he gone mobile last time I heard.
I used to look on enviously as I drove to work.

Leeds urban is another one I want to visit, I'm north Bedfordshire so Chicksands and Woburn are my locals but neither provide much in terms of jumping progression.

I have not made it there but https://maps.app.goo.gl/iyHmhARMCQPBtCxL 7">sp4 milford should be day trip distance.

Leeds probably isn't worth the drive from Bedfordshire to be honest.

Does this link work? LINK

That's pretty handy for finding local stuff that you might not know about.
