Wow, what a difference a week makes! I've never seen so many cyclists out at one time before! The Woburn woods were humming to the tune of freewheels, hastely grabed sqreeching brakes, and even the Dog walkers had time for a smile and a cheery "morning". Spring it seems, has sprung (temporarily probably)

😉

Loads of roadies out today and millions of dog walkers also, most were pretty cheery.

Edit the dog walkers, not the roadies.

Double Edit, actually some of the roadies said Hi or nodded as well.

Busier than it's been for ages. Saturday was still very quiet though.

That said our group had a massive pile up this morning due to black ice, and Saturdays melt that had refrozen.

Glorious day to lift the spirits and restore a bit of faith in the British weather! 8)

Great to see some sun although unfortunately it appeared as if it also brought all the idiots out for their sunday afternoon drives. I have never seen so many ridiculous overtakes on blind corners or into oncoming traffic in a single ride as I witnessed today.

Best weekend in bloody ages, first road ride this year on friday evening, commute home from work yesterday that didn't involve me cursing a 20mph headwind and another road ride today in glorious sunshine. I'd almost forgotten what blue sky looked like. Loads of cylists out oop north today as well.

Yup, wonderful to be out in sunshine and blue skies with some actual warmth from the sun. This winter has truly hacked me off and I'm not one for wishing time away but in this case I'll make an exception. BRING ON SPRING.

Cannock was stupidly busy and very early as well, quite surprised a 8am loads of bikers about, and runners, dog walkers. Was a great blast on the bike this morning, first time in ages ive hit the trails and not the road.

Plan a. ride road bike Saturday , MTB sunday
Fly in ointment of plan a. Change headlight bulb on daughters focus friday night, wake up Saturday morning with a trapped nerve in right hip and back area. 😥
Plan B. Dont sit down, keep moving , swear at the blue sky as you see mate ride off without you. 🙁
Plan C. Wake up Sunday morning, hobble downstairs, take big painkillers, give it an hour and ride in the sunshine for 30 miles on the road. 😆
Probably going to suffer later, but hey, got out and so did so many riders. Most miserable one was a bloke on an MTB, who blankly ignored the smile and 'hello' .

Stunner of a day in Morecambe too - was attending a workshop today but managed to cycle there and back including a detour along the prom at sunset. Gorgeous.

Left in sunshine for a short ride down the Orwell Estuary (possible cheeky) by the time I was past the country park the mist was in, temperature down 4 degrees and ice on the foreshore. There was pushing across some mudflats and I looked a bit odd in dark glasses in the mist!
The one road rider I saw conformed to the STW stereotype, I think he was enjoying himself. Mud as bad as it ever is at this time of the year off-road in these parts.

The roads were a bit hairy this morning. Seems to have thawed Saturday and refrozen overnight, so excuse my compatriots.

I bought mudguards on Saturday, so you can thank me for the good weather...

First time in ages that I've ended a ride wet from sweat rather than rain

First spring ride here too - 55 miles round beautiful Kent lanes.
Until I took a damp corner too fast and tried to use my chin for braking... steri strips in my chin and a chipped forefinger, ripped bibs, bar tape and brake levers...
That's me out for 4 weeks just as the weather gets better 😥

Lots of mountain and darksiders out in Surrey Hills today - Peaslake car park was chokka. Trails still too wet really and have obviously suffered over the last 10 months rainfest.

Had a good 38 mile ride but had to avoid some favourite bits on Holmbury and Pitch as just too wet and didn't want to add to erosion.

Tour of East Lothian Audax in the beautiful sunshine today , 78 miles door to door. Great turnout and only one puncture , Also a highlight was a banned stw member arriving cursing 'Miserable ****in roadies' for not saying hello whilst surrounded by about 200 of them at the sign on.

loads of prats out for first motorbike ride of the year, overtaking on solid whites through rail crossings at 90 in a 50 and then wobbling around the next bend* 🙄

didnt see many roadies out but saw an army a few weeks ago when it was dry and much colder.

*(lifelong motorbiker so not anti bike, just anti-p1llock).

Agree with the motorbike comment. The one who went the wrong way round a roundabout to get past me & the OH in a car was particularly feeling his own incredible awesomeness....

Hah. One of those maneuvres that can be perfectly safe but always marks the rider out as a cock.

We were going left, but a good job we weren't going right and failed to indicate our intention....but yeah, it wasn't dangerous as we were doing what he expected us to do (seeing as we were turning left & indicating so).
A bit like the RLJing cyclists....
