looking for a very strong chain for a ss set up.
any idea's greatly appreciated.
All 1/8" single speed chains are inherently strong. I use a KMC gold one on my fixie and it's lasted ages with no visible signs of issues. Any reason it needs to be especially strong?
Gusset is your answer.

Lot's of choice on their site but I would personally go for the Tank chain.

SRAM PC-1 for me. Hard to review a chain though, it either works or it doesn’t (and doesn’t need replacing after a month or two).
Are you prone to breaking chains?
Any ISO standard chain should withstand 8000NM+ which is way beyond the output of a human (source) so any failure is likely to be down to damage (either externally or due to poor maintenance / fitting).

cheers mate. tank one looks ideal.
KMC Z510HX strong and cheap

Just what I was going to say. If the bike and chain are well set up there is no way chains are going to brake from pedaling.
I agree with the above
we use fairly basic 9sp sram chains on the tandem and i would hazard a guess the two of us weigh more than one ton!
it is not for a bike. it is for a cabinet pulley system. wire catenery wire can be used. but a thick ie ss chain lasts longer. hence me asking for the strongest.
I use normal 1/32 9 speed chains. Chains generally break when twisted across a different cogs under load, on a singlespeed (or aligned pulley system) I can't see there being an issue.
.
Seen trials riders recommending heat treated chains - KMC with HX suffix (already mentioned above).
so any failure is likely to be down to damage (either externally or due to poor maintenance / fitting)
Or manufacturing defects, including poor hardening and pin/outer link tolerances.
Only Wippermann IG8 Pro 💪😎

Nothing even gets close to that monster.
After having hard time with bad batch of Clarks (YBN) single speed chains - plates keep on snapping - decided to go whole hog. No half measures anymore.
Same chain sixth year in the row 😎
Cheers!
I.
That Wippermann looks substantial!
Chains on our forklift at work are fairly solid. There are two chains but each one has four plates, so any failure doesn't cause a problem.
I ended up running normal geared chains for singlespeed. Used proper singlespeed chains for many years before, and they do feel slightly more solid when really cranking, but made no difference to the number of breakages IME.
I use gusset badger
For SS the main problems I encounter are around chain stretch and flex which then leads to other issues.
With my heft it's all about confidence that no matter what you throw at it the setup is solid.
