I fitted an old 3x XT left hand shifter to Mrs_oab's tourer/gravel/hybrid yesterday, that was wearing an Acera shifter.

It's transformed the shifting from hesitant to spot on.

I've therefore went to look for a matching RH 8sp in XT or XTR flavour. I've had plenty in the past - I replaced GripShift on the kids bikes with them in the past. They used to be cheap as chips, relatively.

By 'eck, they are rare and costly! I sold a whole mini framed Trek with X-Fly forks and XTR hubs and shifters, XT mechs in 8sp to a fellow forumite for less than the shifters go for now...

Anyone got an 8sp RH XT or XTR shifter they want to shift for OK money...?

If you are looking on ebay there are some real jokers about. Go on retrobike and post a wanted add, people 'usually' charge market value on there.

Just to note that XT should not be daft money but virtually all retro XTR has gone through the roof.

It was eBay - mainly for ease of search.

I'll see what retrobike can come up with.

Would you consider changing up to 9 speed? I have a good selection of mechs, shifters, cassettes, etc. that I am looking to sell. M770 vintage mainly.

Not at present - we've pretty new 8sp Sora on there.
I've had to swap to a flat bar at mrs_oab's request, and I happened to have spare Acera shifters from an old shopper/paper round bike, yet they are gash. A change of shifter is all we need at the moment...

That's fair enough. Bit of hassle to swap lots, plus the cost as well. Good luck with your search.
(Goes off to put overpriced stuff on eBay.......)

I've got some M970 stuff lying around if anyone wants it. Pretty sure I've got two complete sets of front/rear mech/shifters and two chainsets. All well used mind. And the cranks are currently in use as 1x conversions but if someone wants them...
