Been riding trails near staunton, mallards pike, and parkend all year and found some great trails but now a new area has popped into my radar called the pludds ,has any one ridden there and is it worth exploring ,also best place to park

I think the best answer to your question is just go and explore. Everytime Ive explored in the FoD I have found great trails, often not in the areas everyone talks about.

As for parking, well its not that big, park somewhere you do know and just ride to the Pludds.

These are the Joys Green trails. I haven't ridden there recently, used to years ago and then they sort of dwindled away a bit. Now there's plenty and the gradient is typically a bit steeper than most other FoD stuff. Park at Speculation picnic site. My mates were up there not long ago I've got a good .gpx starting at Speculation if you're interested

The trails are steep and technical in places, a step above the local area.

Park somewhere sensible (I.e. don't drive up into the village, park at the bottom, there are some layby's) and be aware that there has been friction with the locals. Lots of the trails cross the fire roads, so if you see someone walking, slow down and be prepared to stop. Seems that there have been some big groups out firing across fire roads and being asses.
Very few of the trails are on strava and the local riders would like to keep it that way.
Also be aware that some of the trails get brashed by an aggrieved person, so look before you leap.

Same story over on the Primrose Hill / Pillowell area Sir hC. I was going to head over there a few weeks back but I hear most of the trails have been destroyed due to an MTBer knocking over a dog-walker and not stopping

Was going to go for an explore that way next week, shame that they've gone/been rendered unridable.

Hi,

Any Chance of a copy? I know FoD pretty well in places but haven’t ridden this bit in years...

Thanks if possible 👍

That's not actually true, the rumor mill has distorted it from a rider crossed a fire-road near an angry local to knocking down an old lady dog walker whilst punching a baby robin in the face resulting in Forestry atom bombing the entire hillside.

There are a couple of trails closed/barriered off, some of the ropey features have been broken up. 90% of the other stuff is still there.

They're sensitive areas and can't take heavy traffic.

I'm of the opinion that these types of trails shouldn't really be shared openly on a public forum, but there you go. Not everyone feels that.

Folks who can put the effort in to explore and know likely places to look will find different stuff to ride.

Having said that, the steepness and technicality will keep them less busy.

Not done the Pludds for years maybe its better than before never thought there was to much stuff over there Forest can be weird at times but most of the money into the Forestry car parks come from non locals so there you go always been few odd people down there Mum had a uncle that lived there you could not understand a word he said.
