Shhh, I'm sure no one will be able to tell the difference.
It's got bigger wheels?
😐
Wait, what? Running out of names already, or doing a RS and trying to capitalise on a familiar name on a new product?
Bit of a let down.
Heresy!!!!
To say I'm dissapointed is an overstatement
Not sure what's going on with their naming tbh. Given the Carve, err Crave mess recently, I'm surprised it's not the Cerve or something.
That sucks ass
Didn't the Pitch have a sprung rear end before 🙂
I could be wrong...
Look pretty average to me
Wtaf happened there??
For a sec I was actually excited..
is it a new colorway ?
otherwise, can't see a difference at all
Actually worse than the full suspension Zaskar. it's not even a rough and tumble hardtail, Pitch with a 70.5 head angle!
What are they doing?
This makes me pleased to own a proper Pitch!
I am utterly disgusted. Looks more like a Vomithopper
Someone snapped the Top tube on those bikes. 😐
Oh bugger...not what I was hoping for at all.
hmph
That is NOT the Pitch-or a renewed model of- the bike on my "wishlist of bikes to own one day".
Shite. Specialized make some really, truly, woeful pish down that end of the market.
*Sigh.*
Oh dear...not at all impressed.
I went to school with a James Hendrix. He likes to be called jimmy. He was obese with tightly curled, greasy ginger hair.
I felt a bit like this when I first met him.
How very special.
Have specialized run our of other companies to try and put out of business so they're having a crack at doing it to themselves?
Oh dear oh dear.
Gopping paint scheme.....the kids will love it.
Jeeeeezus. Spesh really are dragging the bottom of the barrel.......

Lets hope and pray Specialized implode.
Confession over first, I quite like Spesh!
There, said it.
Anyway, I'm disappointed with the name choice.
Although the bikes themselves are just 650b equivalent's to the Hardrock so no big drama.
+ 1Wtf happened there??
For a sec I was actually excited..
Really like my '09 Pitch, it really can do a bit of everything, 'Ooo' I thought, 'that could be my next new bike' ... nope, no way, it's just wrong to use that name on something like that, the original Pitch sold out for good reason and I was hoping for an updated model, I just feel kind of ... nauseous
WTF was wrong with the old names of Specilized hardtails.
Hardrock, Rockhopper, Stumpjumper.
Has some marketing twonk decided they aren't on trend anymore or something
Hardrock is pretty much all 29er* now, so these look like a 650b alternative.
*for 2015 might all be 29er for all I know.

How big is the North American market compared to the UK.......
Didn't the Stumpjumper line all used to be hardtails as well? If so they've got form for this sort of thing.
Presumably relying on the life-giving nature of 650b wheels to obviate the need for pivots and springy bits. Seems fair to me!
It's just marketing. We all looked. How many of us would have clicked a link on the launch of the new Hardrock 650b?
the original Pitch sold out for good reason
As I understood it, the Pitch selling so well impacted on the sales of the Enduro (the frame was practically the same after all). I could be wrong, of course!
We all looked. But none of us will buy.
Waste of a good name- what was the point?
the original Pitch sold out for good reason
IIRC it didn't sell at all well until they slashed the price at the end of its first season.
What's in a name?
I suppose Specialized can make the [I]'Pitch'{/I] be whatever sort of bike they like but it probably wasn't the shrewdest marketing move...
The associations for the Pitch name were already made in most of our minds with it being a Good VFM 150mm, trail FS bike, OK unearth it, stick on 650b wheels, maybe tweak a few other bits and add say ~£300 to the price tags (inflation and all that) but they would probably have shifted a fair few.
With that Crappy HT version they've wasted the "Marketing capital" the original pitch built up, but it is their trademark to devalue if they really want...
Worth noting they're also an early launch for the"Jynx" Women's specific 650b HT, They've clearly prioritized getting low-mid price point, 650b HT bikes out for 2015,
so will they be doing an equivalent model to the old pitch (under a different name) perhaps?
Yup. Then when they put the price back up to a sensible one, everyone said "Why is it so expensive!" even though it was still good value, because it wasn't £900 any more.
