Finished school Thursday, so the weekend began yesterday. Nottinghamshire schools apparently still in lessons as the Pines was pretty empty. Not been for ages so some bits new to me. Yes, it's flat and pedally but actually pretty sweet in a mellow singletrack way. The blue is now actually proper good too.

Plus, it didn't rain.

Still on holiday in Scotland and currently at Nairn. Gravel ride in the vast Culbin forest yesterday evening. Ended up at Buckie Loch and pleasantly surprised to see how lovely it was when out of the woods. Had a dolphin and cormorant for company which is a nice change for a Lakes and Dales rider

Long weekend in the Tweed Valley, Glentress on Friday followed by Golfie Saturday/Sunday AM. First time riding the Golfie stuff loved it, big climbs but well worth the effort.

Managed to avoid the worst of the weather on my race. Had a couple of showers, but the best day was practice on Friday.

@FOG They are the Zniino carbon copies off Aliexpress and I have been very happy with them.

I put them on an old 2016 Cube, it was even for that age an XC focussed geometry. It makes a great donor for a gravel conversion I think as it has a version of the light Manitou R7 forks so this comes in well under 11kg. The reach is only 380mm on this one so similar to a Ragley Trig, I did put a slackeriser in it as the forks are very straight.

I would actually like to size up so I will probably pick up the next size carbon Cube GTC of a similar vintage. It is 1x but I put the left shifter back on to use as a fork lock out and it has a much better range than the original lock out lever going in two stages from rock solid to very soft.

There is a bit more technical detail below. I would say I have given these bars a good hammering and I am very impressed. Zniino get great reviews across all of their carbon product range.

No pics, but managed a good local ride yesterday - muddy and slippery to the point of being a mild winter ride though. Managed to not get wet though - the heavens opened the second we got to the pub 🙂

Friday was most pleasant in Suffolk.  The rest of the weekend - not so much.

Had a day in the FoD, mostly in the sunshine. Trails were running pretty well considering it rained non stop the day before.  Lots of puddles on some trails, bone dry on others.

First time back on the HT for a while. Good choice as it was filthy afterwards. Finished with a beer at PAB, only disappointment was they were out of the Boar Sausage Rolls (capital letters fully deserved) which are the only snack worthy of consideration for the discerning rider 🙂

Wrote some old nonsense as well: https://www.pickled-hedgehog.com/somedays-youre-the-slugger-2/

I was looking at the weather at the Cricket near you. It did look endlessly wet. Very lucky to get a sunny day here, was not expected that esp at 8am when it was chucking it down.
