Edge/Window 11....DARK.  Why?   I give up, is nothing ever stable here?

I'm going dark/light/dark!!! what's happening?

Ok, it's settled to every page loading light, then part way through the load, changes to dark.

Yep, also now getting the enforced dark mode on android phone and chromebook. It occasionally flicks back to light mode briefly on page refreshes before defaulting back to dark. I know some people like dark mode, but I really don't. I find it causes eye strain and makes the site difficult to read.  It's annoying enough to prevent me from using the site until it's fixed I'm afraid.

Mine has gone dark too on Android.

It's still generally slow to load.

I seem to get logged off every day.

Yeah, I don't like the dark mode either - it's like closing your curtains in daylight. A light mode is much more uplifting.

I've been pretty accepting (and also largely unaffected) by lots of the issues others have been complaining about over the weeks and months, so generally don't post up to whine on here - but today, I'm making an exception.

Can we revert to a lighter default display please (or can someone tell me what I can do to change the appearance for my viewing)?

Please don't force dark mode on. I hate it when google maps goes dark, let alone the forum. At least maps gives you the choice! Whe

re is the setting to turn it off?

Well, it's no longer flashing, so it's clearly being worked on.

It should follow system them settings.  So if you have Windows (etc) in dark/light mode then STW should follow suit.

So it is, I thought I’d just blinked and missed the white theme.

Not on the Chrome OS & browser.  My Chromebook is set to "Light" in the browser settings and the forum still defaults to dark.

I just switched Firefox preferences to light mode (android) but it's still dark.

Also, the logo at the top is dark black text on a black background making it almost invisible.

Glad it's not just me.

Flipped onto dark mode just on this site on both my phone and laptop. All my other Chrome tabs are as normal.

I don't know if it's new or I just didn't notice, but looks like the "black text on a black background" in dialogue boxes has been fixed.

Dunno if this has been commented on so far.  It has been doing it for a while.

In Classifieds on a PC.  Right click to "Open link in new window" and it opens the link in the originating window as well as opening a new window with the link.

It works as expected in Forum, leaving the originating window alone.

"Open in new tab" works fine, if that's any use to you? (I don't see why you'd want a new window rather than a new tab anyway.)

I'm experiencing it just off a right hand click on various parts of a classified line, particularly on the thumbnail image.  Menu pops up, advert opens. Doesn't happen anywhere else on STW or any other site so not a mouse issue.

Classic STW ending.  🙄

Ah, I see what you mean.  Ctrl-click is similarly affected, middle-click works as expected (on the link text at least).

I'm guessing it's a style sheet issue.  The link appends [class="wpa-result-link atw-inline-block atw-no-underline"] one of which I assume is causing the behaviour you're seeing.  I can't (or at least, shouldn't) see what's inside that sheet.  One for Tech in any case.

IME, "open in new window" has caused problems for me.  I've got a hundred tabs open, accidentally open one in a new window, then close the browser maybe for a reboot or something and when it comes back it helpfully restores the browser window with the solitary tab rather than the primary one with all the others.  This is why I very rarely (intentionally) use Open In New Window.  If I do want a new window then I'll generally use a different browser entirely, maybe because I want to use different site login credentials / not be logged in.

A browser I was using the other day (possibly Brave?) gave me the option of which windows to reopen so hopefully this issue is gone/going away.

I was looking for an old thread (a rather sickening one about online animal torture networks as the BBC have just released a report on a kitten torturing network).

I couldn't find the thread but found a link to it in another form thread, clicking on it yielded a 404 error (not found) so it looks like the forum import could still be incomplete.

The link's in here.

Perhaps it's been removed because of content? Maybe because of the new online age check regulations??

I'm just guessing.

Yup, I have a vague recollection that was the reason.

Fair enough, although the above thread with the link in also links to the original BBC article/video.

I had to turn the BBC News off yesterday when they did the kitten piece, so I'll leave this well alone now.

Are the classifieds working- if I try to create a new ad I'm told I'm not logged in, but if I go to manage my ads, I can see previous ads I've posted.

I sent an email message to STW tech about this a while back, no reply yet.
