No, it won't let me.

It's the fact that the "You are not allowed to attach files on this forum.." message overlies the reply box, making it hard to use on a computer, and almost impossible on a phone in portrait.

Can you upload them to imgur (or any other photo sharing site) and then post links to them?

just went looking for an old post, so went to the 'profile' icon top right.  oh, its not there any more..... ahhhhh there it is over on the left.  no problem, must have changed the layout.

however, when i click it the dropdown goes too far to the left to read.  not really a problem, i guessed it in the end, but thought its worth mentioning.

Probably missing something obvious but is there a way of managing thread/forum subscriptions from a control panel?

Looks like the posing delay is back sadly. 🙁 At least 2 replies on the motor cross fork oil that only show in the 3 dots thread overview.

Very slow posting here too. It's always been a bit slow for but recently it's way up

Weird how it affects people differently. I've had my share of long posting delays and other issues before. At the moment though for me, everything is pretty snappy. I've posted on a couple of threads this morning and they've appeared within a second or two. It's been like that bar the odd very brief delay for a few weeks. I'll time this one from hitting "add reply" and report back.

Edit: 7 seconds. Longer than some recently, but pretty acceptable tbh.

Yeah, me too, but I did have a couple of my posts on the Bikepacking Equipment thread go into limbo last night so that's still happening occasionally. I doubt that's a format/theme issue and likely needs to be fixed before any more cosmetic changes.

Posting has been spot on for me for a while now, but edits to post can take a long time to show (although they usually seem to appear once there's a reply).

Here’s a weird one… if I view the thread that’s attached to Benji’s “10 things” XTR story, nearly all the posts are showing as being posted by him (even when it’s clearly someone asking him a question). Odd.

[Mod] it's been reported.

A question …

Someone posts… you like that post… they then edit it to include something you wouldn’t want to be associated with… how do you “unlike” it and get your name removed?

Ta.

I'm wrong, a second click does remove the like.  Only trouble is the forum responds so slowly that you end up wondering did you press that once or twice?

There’s a thumbs up icon. It could be free members don’t get that option but I’m not sure.

This is me on my free account - there's no thumbs-up visible on this so it must just be for paid members - which seems very odd!

I think there would be more reactions too if it was anonymous like it was before.

I wonder if that's just default behaviour?  It would seem odd to me also for it to be a conscious decision to exclude the Like button for free members.  Doubly so if you can't even see the output.

24 seconds for the forum to load from the front page, internet speed test for my computer says download 135.9 mbps. No issues on any other website. Forum seems exceptionally slow.

I suspect this will have been mentioned already, but I'm not about to wade through pages of stuff to find out, but there's something quite badly wrong when you click on an embedded image in a post to give a larger version. You'll get a random assortment of images from the same thread and sometimes not the one you've clicked on at all, so...

As below, all sorts of random, though at least in this case, my images are actually included in the randomness.

Yesterday whilst using my iPhone it was incredibly slow so switched to my laptop. Using edge I couldn’t get the forum to even load properly. After several seconds it would come up but only the multitude of adverts and banners, not the list and links of all the forum topics - there was just a white gap where they should be. This was on chat and bike forums. I gave up after a few minutes. No issue with other sites

In line with tradition, the Search function seems to be broken. I did a multi-word search & eventually was presented with a sizeable list of results. The forum, for some reason, lists them in 'Relevance' order with no concern for date. I'm not sure how it decides on relevance, but I don't find it particularly useful.

Clicking on Advanced  Options allowed me to select 'Order by Date' but, leaving the search box populated as before, running the search again now yields no results.

It  is certainly slow. Not 24s slow for me.  Takes around 10 seconds to open the homepage. In comparison Crazyguyonabike and Uk Cycling open in 1 or 2 seconds.

This is on an aging Windows 10 laptop. Firefox.

I was going to say, this latest update is a bit strange...weird black and white scheme, post counts next to user names?

OK, i can post now....but not a fan of fhis new look. Will check back in a few days

So just some info. We've ditched the old theme for this new one and it's a little more than cosmetic. The old theme was, well, old. Very old. The code in it was bloated. At the time we wrote it the software we needed didn't exist. Now most of it does and so we have moved on and ditched a lot of unnecessary code. That being said, gl;itches and bugs were not unexpected. Give us a day or two to find them and fix them.

I also lost a post in the process of adding it earlier.  There is now a very long list of links on every page that I don't recall being there before. Merch adds, links to recent articles, a list of recent reviews, top rated reviews, a list of partners, articles I may have missed etc. etc!  Some of it is duplicated - the list of reviews appears twice.

On my chromebook these appear in the right sidebar with some on the bottom, on my phone they all appear on the bottom of the page.  Every. Single. Page.  It's just annoying clutter that really detracts from the user experience.  Maybe just put it on the forum home page or the overview page?  Every page of every thread is too much.

Edit to say, I'm also getting a pop-up advertising houses for sale in County Durham.  WTF?

The lack of a Dark Mode is neither a glitch nor a bug. Can we please have that re-instated asap?

Genuine question - what do you folks mean by the 'zebra stripes'?  Is it the grey background for the posts against the lighter page colour (I don't use dark mode)

Begs the question - Why did you pick a “The old theme was, well, old. Very old. The code in it was bloated.” - theme the first time round and spend months trying to make it work! 🤷‍♂️

Mark, fyi I only seem to be seeing the advertising pop-up on the Newsletter page. Hopefully that helps you track down a way of killing it for subscribers.  I also note that further to my post above, the long list of stuff in the sidebar and at the bottom of every page has already been trimmed back a fair bit.  Thank you.

This is probably not what a lot of people here want to read but I quite like the latest look on my phone.

I don't dislike it, it's fairly clean and intuitive. Certainly no worse than before and maybe a little better imv. Now that some of the bloat on the edges has been paired back a little.

@mark Main site rather than forum-related, but please could you look at handling 'prefers reduced motion' requests on the home page. With the carousel AND the marquee it's all a bit 'whooshy' for those sensitive to these things. 🤢 Thanks.

Looks alright, though are you really ditching all the brand identifiers? One thing stuck out, you used to click on 'FORUM' and get taken to the latest posts in Bike and Chat. Now you have to use a drop down to do that, or load another page to make another click, which doesn't seem to be an improvement.

How do I see the forum in one place ie the Bike and None Bike? I hope it’s not been separated ? If so it’s going to get even less traffic wth all the faff of switching forums

And how to I get to my own profile ?
