Birthday ride today.
Over 2000 metres of descent seems like a nice way to spend a morning.

Early morning ride for me - cold, grey and still really muddy in places - colourful bluebells and rapeseed, thought would have looked nicer with a blue sky!

Rip round with Mrsstu this morning.
Trying to make the most of the dry trails before the rain comes.

I'm working a nice commutable distance away at the moment, most of it off-road, now the weather has perked up a bit and the suns come out

[img] [/img]

and it happens to pass a rather nice pub beer garden on the way home. Result! 😀

A cracking ride last night over the tops and then down through the woods after an enforced diversion for live firing on the ranges. We finished in the beer garden of the Hare and Hounds and had a couple of pints and watched the Champions League semi on their big outdoor screen. Midweek evenings really don't get much better than that 😀

I had a ride around Whinlatter for the first time in years after work today and really enjoyed it.
I came up the Braithwaite road so picked up the south side blue trail on to the red sections of the south and then over to do the full north red trail.
It is quite nice and flowing for the drop bar bike.

A rare occasion yesterday I got out to the actual woods for a ride, with actual hills*, and actual trails. Got a bit of a beating on the rigid MTB but was expecting it and taking it easy(ish) to reduce impact. Brakes got a good workout! Need to get my Bird Zero TR back up and running with 130 forks. *compared to my regular doorstep riding.

No en-route pics today. Went for an Essex back lanes ride on the gravel bike from Dunmow around to Halstead and back. Only one close pass in 3 1/2 hours of cycling which is an Essex record for me. Pics of the main event at Little Book Cafe.
Coffee, cake and bike

Bike against a wall

Can we spot what is missing from picture 2?

I'm guessing you didn't go down Brick Kiln Lane/Clay Lane in Stebbing or you'd have had your wheels pinched (well maybe in the '80s)

@reeksy I did venture along part of Brick Kiln Lane, wheels remained on the bike. It was well before primary school chucking out time though. Stebbing now looks like an expensive place to live nowadays.

@sandwich - that was my primary school. I think it’s a Steiner or Montessori school now! Was a nice spot in the 80s… but if anything went missing the first place to look was the travellers down the lane…

Dark wet morning. Got a shock when the local trail Emu (Fluffy) appeared from behind a tree in a random location and proceeded to pester me for snacks.
Had to give the bike a hose down at work… security guy asked if I was riding so fast I had to cool the tyres down.

Shortish, but fab ride tonight in the Derbyshire Dales with a couple of mates, ending up with Hoffmeister at the local.

Was rather impromptu too, considering I'd had a BBQ and 3 beers before setting off

Another 2 KOM:s though...

My first proper off road ride on an electrical bicycle.

Still hard work but I got to ride up stuff I normally only ride down and add an extra loop.

It was fun and that’s what it’s all about.

Hot, hot, hot Nethy/Ryvoan loop. The sky is so blue and hills so green that the horizon looks like it's been painted.

Beinn a Bhuird from Invercauld today for me (booked a couple of short notice days off 😀). That was one long and hot climb. Close to 4000ft high and I was too hot in short sleeves 😀

Great pics those @jimmy748 - reminds me of being in Molini two weeks ago.

Used most of the long light last night in the Yat. Stunning conditions, great ride and a couple of beers on the river. Feels a long time since we were muddy and cold, shivering outside the pub!

Brilliant ride out last night, mix of woodsy singletrack, moorland XC, and some fun enduro lines. Beers & pies on the train back.

Early Solstice ride up to the local stone circle (Nine Ladies, Stanton Moor). Lots of hippies, psuedo hippies and a mix of people really, all seemed to be having a lovely time.

I had planned an epic ride today that was going to be all the best trails at Ballater, Aboyne and Banchory and ride between each location. The weather forecast for biblical rain put the kibosh on that so I just headed to Ballater and rode until the rain came…….it didn’t 😂.

I rode ‘Final Destination’, ‘E.T.’, ‘Mastermind’, ‘The Green Mile’ and ‘Heartbreak Ridge’.
41 miles and 6000ft of up, legs were shot at the end.

Very early solstice ride. Back in the day we'd stash beers and ride till midnight. Still great fun and definitely more appropriate for a 6am start tomorrow.

Quick, short spin out today to support the D of E students on their practice expedition. Beats being in a sweaty, hormone-fuelled classroom all day.
