A bit late in the day for there to be no weekend thread yet, but hey-ho...

Looked at the forecast for Sunday morning and thought a Saturday afternoon bimble would be a better bet. Out for three hours and only covered 25km! Got too caught up in taking photos of fungi and Autumn stuff, and occasionally stopping to tighten my non-drive side crank arm.

Still, did manage to grab what I think is another cracking riding selfie as I appear to have time-travelled back to ride in a late renaissance landscape painting.

Nice.
We’re on flood alert here… not sure if we’ll get a ride in this weekend 🙁

Mate's birthday ride in the Yat. Wasn't as muddy as expected to start with. Or as grippy as I'd hoped by the end 🙂

Definitely hardtail season. And with all the rain since, time for the rear 'uglyguard' to get fitted today.

Out on the gravel bike on Friday. Some familiar trails, surprisingly un-hamnered by the recent rain. Plus checking out a load of gravel/tarmac paths alongside a new stretch of outer ring road recently built in East Leeds.

This mornings ride was one of the wettest for a long time, but beautiful none the less

Luckily I’m still in Spain. Managed to rebuild the back wheel using BRASS nipples, & olive oil & butter to lube them.
Had a ride from Estepona up to Casares this morning in 26degrees.
Stayed on the roads but there’s some awesome looking gravel. The roads seem vertical to me, no wonder Spain produces fit cyclists!

Got a quick soon in round Cwmcarn Sunday morning, the lower loop of the Cafall followed by the final descent of the Twrch. Very wet after last night's downpour but loads of grip unless you came across a fresh pile of leaves!

Strangely the spooky trees that she'd all their leaves in the heatwave have started to grow a new load as it's still so mild. Hope it doesn't do them any damage when the first frost arrives as where they are is always colder than the rest of the trail.

Walking yesterday, I don’t think i’ve seen as much fungi for years

Have noticed that too, they're sodding everywhere. over the last week I've spotted hundreds of them round Brechfa, Llandegla, Cwmcarn and found a massive clump of them in a closed pub's beer garden!

Our Spey canoe descent was postponed due to our friends getting Covid. 🙁
Time to make use of the time and a nights accommodation.

First day - the classic around Morlich, Nethy and Sluggan. Set off in damp and grey, got battered by rain and mud in Abernethy Forest, escaped to Nethy House to warm up (recommend for the home baking, great coffee and WC DH rider kicking around 😉 ), then by the time we meandered up through Sluggan and around Morlich the sun came out.

A wet day of walking around Culbin Forest and beach the next day, after popping in to see a lucky to be alive colleague a week after his heart stopped. Three times.

(I nearly sharted squeezing this gut out...)

Then today we dropped on a weather window to pedal the Spey way from Craigellechie to nearly Grantown on Spey, and back again. A proper lovely gravel route - we're planning a spring Dava Way, Moray Coast Trail and Speyside way trip with friends now.

@aberdeenlune - did you meet the (wild, probably) Heriot Watt cycling club?
Our eldest was herding the gang...

Hi Matt didn’t see any cyclists at Uath today. Great pictures you’ve posted I know the trails. Just a pity they aren’t as dry as they were a couple of months ago 🥲

Popped down Drumlanrig to see how the gradual post-storm trail work is coming on. Trails are ace with all the slimy leaf litter covered roots.

A weekend of fishing, nature and bike parks with legends for me, all of it wet but fun.
Revs
Dyfi
Bird

Nice to be able to ride even when wet and still have loads of grip. Reese Wilson, Ben Cathro, Rachel Atherton all out on the bikes being awesome, and Dan Atherton was our uplift driver for a couple of runs, such an awesome place.
Dyfi
Tombstone
Atmospheric

Sadly my first and last trip to Revs. Initially started thinking I had made a mistake and was out of my depth but as the day went on I improved and had a great time. Mucky as hell though and I am guessing I ride right foot forward!
Revs
Shoe

And then the nature. A few hours fishing and then a walk round a stretch of river I used to fish as a teen.
Trout

Well it’s half term, so I took the kids up to the forest taking the opportunity to upgrade my youngest to the Whyte 605:

Much fun was had and after hestitation she was ok with small drop offs and log rolls.

Pub burgers after for lunch.
