You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hello,
Just discovered something a little suspect on the top tube, where it meets the head tube on my Spark carbon frame.
It looks like an odd place to get a scratch, but could be flex that's caused the paint to flake off.
Any ideas?
One thing's for certain, I am going to die.
Cheers everyone,
Butty
100% scratch (probably). I'm an engineer. HTH
Scratch for sure, I'd put money on it - I mean bet, not cover it up with a £1 coin.
10/10 for paranoia tho 😉
Tis but a scratch. When it cracks it will be around the bottom bracket area, not there 😉
Yeah its a scratch honest 😉
Dammit, thought it said crack or snatch, was expecting a different picture.
Wicky wicky wah wah, scratch.
Hit it with a hammer. You'll know then
the fact that it ends at a simlar mark that's at right angles to the large one makes me wonder if it that's where there was a join between two bits of carbon in the mould?
It just looks to straight and regular to be a scratch and it doesn't 'tail' off or get shallower at the end - just stops.
Neither. It's the edge of your heli tape. Numpty.
😆 @ wwaswas
Bugger, just realised everyone is looking at the copter tape, rather than what I was wondering about - which is above the tape, on the corner.
I'll adjust the photo...
ah, that explains the strait lines then 🙂
I was looking at the death-coming-soon crack above it
It wouldn't crack there shirley. Magnifying glass'll tell you.
For it to crack there it would have to have been impacted rather than a stress crack buttscratcherrr bbbbbuttttscratcherrrrr
Put one of those bullet hole stickers over it and bang it on classifieds
Scratch........ 😀
just going to upload one of these myself..... 🙁
classic
Certain that's a scratch.....
If it was to crack in that area (which is very unlikely), it would snap pretty darn quick so you'd be sure by now!
🙂
Sweeeet. Well then, that's decided a new Kashima RP23 shock, a DSP Dropper post and some Fox Kashima 120 FiT RLCs.....
Now, just need to get in touch with Loco Tuning 🙂
Cheers fellas.
Buttttttttttttttttchratcher away!
