I've been offered a Pashley Guvnor for a silly price, and the more I think about it, the more I fancy it for a bit of summer commuting and the odd local sportive. It's a beautifully built replica of a 1930s path racer. Long, and slack and heavy as an anchor. Pretty in a very vintage kind of way.
Only problem is, my cycling wardrobe is more Lycra than Tweed, which means I'd look even more of a fool than usual.
Has anyone else used a Pashley as day to day transport? Any advantages and disadvantages? I think it would be good for my legs.
It's neither old or custom, so just a bike that doesn't really work as well as it should IMO. This is just my opinion though and I ride a Humu off road so who am I to talk!
Pros:
Silly price.
Attract trendy cycling girls with intimate piercings (not gaurenteed)
Cons:
Look like a try hard.
Impractical bike.
Thief magnet.
(Gaurenteed)
I do think they look nice though!
I'd have one tomorrow if I had the room. The perfect bike for summer to cruise to the pub on!

This might not necessarily support the case for purchase in the Bol household.

That's debatable.

I meant Lycra and 1930s retro. That would look pretty grim.
I think enfht suggests you normally look such a fool it would be hard to beat.
