Hi, were going to bike park wales in June and want to fit in an xc ride that isn't too old school and has some thrills. We're staying in brecon and so far from what I can see, the gap looks like our best bet. Are there any better options or a way to spice up the gap a bit. I know similar questions have been asked over the years, just wondered what things were currently like. Ta
I don’t know about any other options but it was plenty spicy on a xc hardtail with bike-packing bags on after 150 miles of Walesduro.

If you're coming up from the Brecon side, you could turn left at The Gap and hike a bike up onto the Fan y Big ridge and ride around that, dropping down to the road pass then flying down the gravel road to Talybont and back along the canal. Or you could go up above the reservoir on the ridge and then drop down into Talybont. Lots to do around there.
