I am looking for a new jacket, somewhere between super lightweight and packable and decent all day dryness.

The Endura MTR shell gets good reviews. However, my review of my most recent Endura purchase would be “quite expensive, fell apart, would not buy again.”

Should I return to Endura?

Any other recommendations? Max 200 quid

I have loads of Endura kit, mainly because it just keeps on trucking forever (OK - I only get 3 years from a pair of gloves).

I've had the MTR jacket for a year or so. It's really comfy and very breathable. Been washed a few times and seems ok. Jury is out on long term durability but no complaints so far.

Pretty much all my off road kit is now Endura and none of it falls apart.

I've had a Gore windstopper and whatever the old version of the current shake-dry stuff is for going on 10 years now. Only fault is the reflective coating on the windstopper has mostly peeled off. Still windproof, still waterproof (with re-proofing over the years), no rips, zips all in fine fettle.
Seems to be slightly over the £200 budget nowadays but there are bound to be some deals somewhere.

Sizing is for short tubby types, prefer Madison or decathlon.

Have a look at Rab's Kinetic jacket, not cycling specific, but I think it's very suitable - highly breathable, tight fit bit stretchy so doesn't flap too much in the wind.

I've had one since it came out and very impressed with it.

Most of Endura's mtb jackets are, I tried a couple on at the weekend and the wife commented that you'd need a bay window to fit that but the MTR shell is pretty slim fitting, well mine is anyway (I'm not built like my username suggests :)).

Plus in answer to the question, mines been worn a few times now and seems to be lasting well, is actually waterproof and breaths ok.

I was looking at this. How waterproof is it? Couple of reviews mention not suitable for long rides in prolonged, heavy rain.

At that price you might be able to get something from Ground Effect. It's the best quality stuff I've got.

Just bought the Showers Pass IMBA jacket - not used it in anger yet, but feels well made and fits well

Endura do seem not just to make their mtb stuff “baggy” but tubby in the jackets. We’ve got a few Endura road hard shell jackets between us and theyre a much better fit (with fewer un-nessecary poclets and “features” as well). MTR range is cut much racier. The high end road and MTR stuff Endura do is the equal of anyone’s.

If it’s anything like their shorts it will be pure luck. In the same shorts I’ve got size L and M. The large liner fits perfectly but the outer is slightly too big and is far too baggy. The medium liner is soooo tight, the outer fits my waist ok but not my thighs and is slightly too short.
