A few months ago we took in a resuce dog. Initially the 4 cats were not having any of it and refused to have anything to do with it.

However over time they have all settled in and are all interacting. Seth the Dog is obsessed with Molly my 10 month old kitten, he will follow her everywhere (and I mean everywhere) and stare at her when she is asleep.

Molly doesn't seem to care about this as he doesn't touch her or anything and has never made much of an attempt to lick or nip her. She has a smaller sister (also black and white) who is still weary of Seth. He seems to stare at her a lot too, but he doesn't follow her to the same extent. The other 2 ginger cats are not treated in this way, they are not exactly ignored but they apparently hold very little interest to Seth!

Seth is a collie saluki cross about 3-4 years old, great with people (and cats) but is very weary of other dogs and seems to hate black dogs.

Any ideas? We got him from a resuce centre as there was sibling rivalry between him and his brother at his previous home and Seth was sent to the rescue centre.

He doesn't seem to want to harm the cats at all and seems to understand his place int he house pecking order.......I think.
He des make a funny yelping noise when molly is sat on a lap getting a few strokes or sometimes he does it when he sees her. She does not care one bit and if he gets up in her face she will snack him on the nose.

Can anyone shed some light on this behaviour?

You just got a freaky dog.

I stayed in a youth hostel once and there was a teenage boy there a bit like your dog, I woke up one morning and he was sat on a chair next to my bunk watching me sleep. If Molly is anything like me she will be freaking out and looking for the first opportunity to get the hell out of Dodge.

Hahaha that sounds nice!
She is an outdoor cat so can come and go as she pleases but likes to stay within earshot of the food blow being filled!

Collies can be a bit weird and neurotic. Odd behaviour is just the Collie in him

Cover you cat in gravy and see what happens.

Not sure it will help but please video it.

Ever hopeful for a euphemistic thread title, I confess to not being surprised at the literal.

As above, collies are neurotic and possibly a rescue one even more so.

It is my professional opinion that your dog is suffering from being a dog while your cat is suffering from being a cat.

This thread really is useless without pictures.
