Andy from focal events was up my way before xmas, It's a well planned route and i may be manning/helping out on the support stand in kirkcudbright if they need me.
What's the route Soma?
And no Rain!!
info is a bit thin on the ground so far. What's the per day distance?
Is that website Flash based? I just get a graphic in the centre of the screen with "The Distance. 2 Days, Galloway, Scotland June 10th & 11th" but nothing else, no links, nada.
Me too Whitestone, s'why I'm asking.
Me too Whitestone, s'why I'm asking.
Same here. Looks reet good though! 🙂
it'll get the bear-bones lot grumbling...
Ahh sorry i was away to work for a few hours.
I don't really wish to irk the focal crew involved in organising the event regarding posting up routes etc incase the final route is yet to finalised (and it's not my place to blurt out what we talked about) but when i met with Andy late last year he had obviously done his homework as he knows the area rather well and was planning on using some "off-the-beaten-track" trails that as a galloway resident with local knowledge i've used for 20+ years - sorry i can be of much more help but i guess it wouldn't hurt to say it" may" be around the 200mile mark for the two days with "options".
Hello chaps and lady chaps.
Distance is variable,it changes dependant on how fast you ride; The faster you ride the further you go, in the same time. Everyone arrives together at the camp. Routes cut deep into rural Galloway on day one and by coastal areas on the second day.
Think Bike packing on cross/mtb/gravel bikes made a bit easier.
Just bookmarking the thread. Sound very promising.
can you confirm what town the event start/finish is in please?
I'm guessing new Galloway.....
Bit of an update. now that entries have been open for a while and we've had lots of questions, thought I'd answer a few here.
The start is Colvend, just South of Dalbeattie.
There are folk wanting to take/meet up with partners/family/friends at the overnight. This is no problem, and they can pitch up at the overnight and enjoy the food and bar for a small cost (around £10 per head). If you can't be bothered to ride on Sunday, they can obviously be your sag wagon. They will be told where the overnight is once everyone has set off.
This is in no way a race, or a hard core bike packing ITT, so rules and regs are minimal, but everyone will carry sleeping bag and bivi/tent (even if they have a luxury shelter waiting at the finish). The focus is on fun - you know, the joy of pedalling in nice places, with nice folk.
No Bags? Pannier.cc have bike bags for hire, which come with a heavily discounted entry.
This is a new event type of the sort we're confident lots of people will love, so we're trying to make entering and completing as hassle free as we can, removing gear/hassle obstacles we hope.
While there is no official sag wagon home on Sunday, we'll make sure everyone is back for afternoon tea.
Looks really interesting.
Can't make it this year but looking forward to feedback.
