Intense bikes are very sexy i must admit, BUT let's have some honestly.
Are they over priced or is it a case of you get what you pay for.
Looking at the Tracer.
They’re a shit-tonne cheaper than they were last year and they’re almost YT money?
Are you looking at Intense’s online shop?
Yes have spoken to them and keep hovering over the commit button, have been and stroked one at Merlin cycles as well.
Not ridden a Tracer but have ridden a Primer and an ACV.
Both pretty amazing bikes, have a look at the design process to see why the cost what they do (or maybe what they dont) and make your own mind up.
But how do they compare to the cost of reading a thread in the wrong sub forum oldtimejedi, HOW DO THEY COMPARE TO THAT?
Depends if you like vpp .
I saw these and love the look of them, when they were at 2800 or so i almost bit, went for Transition instead and then had it stolen after 3 months..... maybe it was karma!!
Chill Winston, t'was just a joke.
I'm riding a Recluse which replaced a Bronson and I'm really enjoyying it. Worth every penny.
Never mind the price, how will any problems be dealt with if they are a US brand. YT / Canyon seem to have a good level of customer support now. Not sure what Intense would be like.
Intense used to be a boutique brand, much like Santa Cruz.
Can't believe what's happened to the brand over the years. Seems to have really devalued.
I guess it's as a result of not doing well in DH and having a weak team and the historic wonky frames.
Bikes look great though and the price is very competitive.
I’ve had a Recluse for a few months and it is excellent. (Bought it at a very good price before the prices dropped.)
I work in the same office as the buyer for the group that bought the job lot of available Intenses before they went direct and he says that they’ve had no warranty issues. (He’s an old friend and wouldn’t make that up.)
Mine is a lovely ride. Light, stiff, and well designed frame - there is no cable rub at all. It’s an excellent technical climber and better than me going downhill. It is the most capable fs bike I’ve owned by far.
A mate is still trying to shift a large ex-demo Carbine Pro build which is now being offered at under £3K. I honestly can’t believe it hasn’t sold yet as it’s a lot of bike for the money.
I know 2 people that used to ride Intense. Both frames snapped.
Both guys got replacement frames, 1 snapped, the other eats bearing.
@monkeyboyjc - Depends what you class as second hand I guess. It’s an ex-demo being sold by a shop with a full warranty behind it, and with a Pro build currently selling for £4,300 I still think £3K is decent value. If it was a XL frame I would’ve bought it myself.
I bought a brand new, but 2017 model, Primer Pro for £3200 last month. It's a fab thing but i wouldn't have paid the £6000 asking price before the new reductions. No bike is worth that.
