As much as certain people like to keep trying to compare the 2. This ain't the Olympics.

Yes, for one thing we didn't ask the rest of the UK to pay for it 😉

Those tents are the wrong brand. Don't they know there's no trespass in Scotland?

It was entirely funded by the Scots? 😉

Have to say, we had a great couple of days up there, saw athletics and gymnastics, Glasgow was amazing, very much like London during the Olympics.

80% from Glasgow CC, 20% from the Scottish government I think.

Stepping neatly away from the "who pays" argument may I just say that opening and closing ceremonies are a waste of time and money and should be banned

They are in my house anyway...

It needs to get a move on.
Life expectancy in Glasgow is not this long.

This Gold Coast thing is possibly the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen. We've had to turn it off.

Hope someone's got an ironing board handy... we made a dire job of folding that flag.

how much were the closing "party" tickets? Anymore than £5 and I think some people may feel cheated!

Seems remarkably flat on TV

How often has Kylie performed to a dead audience?

Boots cover a pretty uninspiring performance

Enjoyed the 'Jarvis Cocker'esque stage invasion by the girl in the green jumper!

If the theme to Kylie's performance is a night out in Glasgow, she's been on different ones to me. Nobody's been sick, and a mass brawl hasn't erupted outside a kebab house 😯

I slept with Susan Boyle once. True story.

She was in the seat next to me on a flight back from LA. She snored a bit.

Even Deacon Blue were cringe worthy, did Simple Minds or The Proclaimers turn up?

What was so wrong with it? I caught a few minutes here and there, and Kylie was rocking it! (: Didn't see much though?

Aye.

The Qld Gold Coast is brash and crass, so their performance was bang on.

Kylie, ah well... 🙂

Well it was poor. Not as poor as the London closing ceremony.

To be honest of the opening and closing ceremonies, London opening was fun, and Glasgow opening wasn't too bad. Both closings have been poor.

Not as poor as the London closing ceremony.

This. iirc the London closing ceremony was a rehash of an early 1990s Brit awards, complete with George Michael's latest single, Pet Shop Boys, Beady Eye covering Oasis, Those two who still haven't noticed that their band (Queen) ceased to have a purpose twenty years ago and, for the first time on primetime telly in 15 years, Annie fluffing Lennox, so a short set from Kylie wins it for me.

The Gold Coast bit was absolutely cringeworthy.

I thought the cheese factor couldn't get any worse then the Surfer dude drew a magical doorway on the screens and a small enthusiastic child appeared on stage.

At that point the cheese event horizon was crossed and we were sucked in to a whirling vortex of sub Disney, pseudo Eurovision trash.

Not even Kylie in boots could recover after that.

Still the Commonwealth Games were great, Glasgow should host it from now on (with opening and closing ceremonies to be banned henceforth)

They should have had a battle royale between Kylie and Shirley Manson.

The Gold Coast bit was rubbish indeed, but Kylie remains a minx.

Well done Glasgow for putting on a really great event. The atmosphere in Glasgow was like a fair, when I went up last weekend. The weegies should be proud of themselves, a huge effort has paid off I think.

'London 2012' was over-blown I think, I liked the 'home-spun' feel of Glasgow 2014.
