Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all those who turned out.
Had a great day, and the weather made the riding all the more fun.
Really, really good to see you out Tony.
If anyone wants to see the remaing 50% of the forest, then sing out- I'll gladly show you it all.
( well, the bits I know, anyway...)
😀
Oh,and good work Dave for getting this all squared away.
Yep great day out today, enjoyed the company and the banter, think ton is happier now. Mr Teetosugars I will be going on holiday but will be up from some more exploring in the forest. I'll email my mobile number as it will be easier to arrange stuff
Any Piccies lads?
some video here
ace day out, and considering the size of the group very little faffage 🙂

Junkyard send me your postcode I'm on route 😉
Twas a very enjoyable ride indeed. Thanks everyone, looking forward to someone else needing cheering up soon!
flikr upload slow showing 55% complete.. 🙁
just a massive thanks to everyone who came today.
it was fantastic to be honest.
sorry for holding everyone up, thanks to Nick and the lads for showing us round.
and a massive thanks foe Lowey for giving me a kick up the arse and getting the urge to ride going again.
8)
Ton you didn't hold anyone up. You were never on the rear all the ride.
I'm the king of rear-gunner climbing and don't give a **** about it 😀
was that you in the vids Hora?
just askin like.
Can't see vids on blackberry- how badly did I mince? 😮
See this what STW is good at lots of people meeting up and having a ride. Wasn't going to work out for getting there I had last weekend away and Mrs would have been most displeased, that and Hora would have lost his place at the back on the climbs.
Glad you all had fun.
Brilliant day everyone. Looking forward to another Delamere ride soon.
Thanks to the leaders.
If all the same people were out every weekend I'd be there. I laughed a few times like in the old days on the Surrey Hills 🙂
Thanks everyone for a great day out and good to meet you... glad you enjoyed the forest and as Nick said.. if / when you want to return... shout out and we'll happily show you the best places for tea and cake.
Great ride, thanks to Nick, Steve and the locals for herding.
Good to meet a load of new faces, although I aint got a clue who you are 😳
No idea I was riding with the notorious Hora 😯
Great to see you out Tony.
hora, you missed out on the cakes..First dibs next time 😉
Looks like I missed a blinder - work got in the way....
Ton - good to see you out and about again fella - long may it continue 🙂
Mr GRAEMEJONES could I get a copy of some pictures you took today please. Bugger missed out on them BFO's 😥
Yep, Was brilliant. Nice to put some names to faces and I'll see if I can't cut some of the vids I took together over the next few days. Just have to decide yet, do I use Hansen, Mm Bop as the backing track after the discussion up by they 4x track, or some Take That after the where did Gary Barlow live extended discussion between me and Teetosugars. 😀
although our race up at lee quarry was a good one today, i am genuinely gutted i had to miss this ride.
especially after reading the reports and seeing the pics/vids so far...
glad you all had a good day though. delamere's a lot of fun when you know where the good stuff is (or when you go there with nick and he knows where the fun stuff is!)
I know where Gary Barlow used to live.
Would you like the casting vote then Bunnyhop?
Lipseal, if you go to my post with the photo's on, the link will take you to my flikr account, from there you should be able to download what you want, I've not changed any settings so they should be fine for people to help themselves, if not drop me a mail, address in profile and we'll sort it that way.
HTH..Graeme
tthew - He used to live in Plumley in a large house close to the Station (bit of a Take that fan here).
Long before that Wythenshawe in a small house.
Goes off to fire up computa
I had a bloody great day. Thanks folks. Will be back on solo bikes at some point in the near future.
oh and while I think on, quote of the day:
"have you got 999 on speed dial"
"No, but I've got Dominos, is that any good?"
cheers for great day out everyone, although i'm more of a lurker than a poster it was great to meet up. deffo up for another ride.
gutted i had to drag big pete away a bit early but at least i got to see ton getting air before we left !
cheers
In true STW style we all set off and within minutes the group gets lost/accidently split up. Always makes me chuckle.
I know that Jason Orange lived in Dunham Massey for a while. I'm sure Gary is wealthy enough to have sevaral houses.
Was anyone riding an MmmBop? No? Then Take That it is.
Mmmkay.
According to numerous sources on the internet (so it must be true / untrue / government propaganda / the divine will of the FSM) Gary Barlow, once famous, bought a large house in Cheshire... it never really specifies where... he then went on to buy Delamere Manor ( http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?ftid=0x487afb1ca8f7892d:0x7c01760cdd6dffd1&q=delamere+manor&hl=en&sll=52.37482,-2.396854&sspn=2.070552,0.546467&ie=UTF8&ll=54.001312,-5.932617&spn=0,0&t=h&z=7) .... which he sold several years later for a whopping profit. In fact, I think it's on the market now for sale or rent ( http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-33442670.html)
However, I can't find evidence that the house he bought is the disputed one ( http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=53.255806,-2.699694&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=6.881357,14.941406&num=1&t=h&z=19)
Sources: Abridged extract from My Take by Gary Barlow on the Daily Fail website.
The take that member who lived in plumley was either Jason or Howard.
Sorry i couldnt make it (kids party) but glad you all had a good ride out!, Weather was fab.
Really sorry we never made it folks. We were bogged down in a whole world of faff, moving house. Looks like you had a blinder though. Nice day for it too
Bloody hell Binners, even Hora made it. Mind, he slipped off early, as usual
After 2.5hours is not early. Some of us have a 15month old to entertain 8)

is he still using "i have to go to John Lewis" excuse?
mtb's were 100mm max travel and everyone used vert-pro's the first time he used that excuse.
he just disappeared, no excuses given 😉
yeah thanks for showing us the trails guys.really enjoyed it.would probably have gone in circles on fire roads without the local knowledge from local people.
we will sort something out in sunny lancs soonish
mart
I said bye to 5 people and shook hands. TBH I may have been swayed and stayed if I'd remember to bring some money as I didn't fancy sitting there whilst you all munched at the food break. 🙁
Next time -could we ride that ravine thing? 🙂
So, to summarise:
Hora in 'dog ate my homework' style excuse shocka
followed by
Hora in "I appear to have come out without my wallet" shocka 🙄
I didn't even realise I was in the company of hora... 😳
It was only when NBT pointed out he'd bailed..
hora
Next time -could we ride that ravine thing?
No brains?
Yeah, of course you can fella- there are far better decents tho'... 😉
? I thought a social/relaxed pace would be circa upto 3hours hence I only packed my side pockets for stuff!
Anyway, at least I showed my face binners 😉
I can confirm that there was indeed a whole world of faffing by Binners on his move over to Ramsbottom. Sorry to have missed it I was looking forward to meeting everyone I haven't as of yet!
That may also be the case. The take that member who lived in plumley was either Jason or Howard.
But I know for a fact that Gary lived in the very large house by the station (with indoor swimming pool) because I made the curtains for the lady that bought it from him.
Cough - I need to get a life.
Can I just say that 'Ton' was indeed cheered up but nearly had a heart attack in the process (only kidding).
Can I just apologise now for the Gary Barlow thread hijack. If I'd have known, I'd have started a brand new thread, and it would have been the most popular I'd ever begun. 😳
anyhow, I'm still convinced this is the place, or at least one of them. His brother still has a roofing contractors place next door.
At least two VeloCakers in attendance but no pictures of cake?? Shocking!

Yeah, sorry about that RD...
I'm off the cake.. 😐
Yeah, but the cake (the BFOs brought by GraemeJones) were bloody lovely. There's a picture of them on the original thread. Man, but that guy can bake
I had my cake before the ride started, and then some more on the way home, and then some more when I got home, 74 miles that day, I earnt my cake 🙂
nbt,Thanks very much 😉 the BFO's might be on the cards again! I'm up for the TJ ride on the 13th if I'm allowed. I can bribe people with aforementioned BFO's and Carrot Cake if need be. 😀
If any of you are still looking at this thread, I've posted the promised video up here
Cheers for the ride people, I buggered off half way round as I had family crap to do. As for the Wirral lad offering to meet up again, havent had internet till now, so nothing organised. Cheers for the offer though. Some nice bikes there too. Apologies for my squealing rear brake.
