After yet another order problem with The Bike Outlet York (Will I ever learn?) are they breaking the trade discription act whereby they advertise an item in stock but it is actually a lie?
The short story of this one is I ordered an item that stated in stock on the website but after ordering and waiting never arrived. Called them only to find they didnt have it in stock after all and now i'm forced to claim my money back via the bank.
There has to be more to it than that. You can easily back out of a sale if the item is unavailable. Have you tried asking them for your money back?
Emailed and called several times asking to cancel my order and refund.
No replies to email and on the phone they are polite and apologetic but just claim they will refund me but nothing materialises.
This is from an item that was in stock and stated 1 - 7 days delivery and was ordered on 4th Feb.
I dont think i'm being unreasnoble. Its been just under 4 weeks now with no item and no refund.
Might be worth contacting your local Trading Standards.
Hi Nickirwin
I started this thread when I became concerned about Bike Outlet - unfortunately my worst fear shave been realised....

I ordered from them, ironically, as CRC were out of stock for what I wanted & BO were showing them cheaper and available in 1-5 days.
I have been waiting for a refund now for nearly 2 weeks and as I payed by VISA will probably have to get them involved. Does anyone the name of the manager / owner??
Forum mods- this needs to be a prominent PSA!
Guys,
It exactly the same issue with them, ordered a Hope Ceramic Bottom Bracket from them on the 13th feb. phone them a week later to chase up to be told that" because their prices are so good Hope are refusing to sell to them" and that they will need to cancel the order. So a week more passes and nothing paid into my account. Contact them again to check where the money is to be told that they 'may' have a delivery tomorrow. Tell them that it is no longer required as Westbrook managed to supply within 24 hours and the fact they were cancelling my order....!
Anyway a week later and still no money... No response to emails but very nice on the 'phone.........
Given them today to sort it out but guess what... No response so f@@k it visa can sort them...
I'm all or supporting high street shops when possible but their customer service is appalling. avoid t all costs
Now going through the VISA Chargeback process.
HSBC were very good and informed me I will recieve a refund within 2 days.
The Bike Outlet now have 60 days to dispute this claim with Visa.
I ordered some Hope Wheels off them - again showing as in stock. Took nearly 3 weeks to get them delivered and then they came with the wrong adapter for the front wheel. Emailed them but never heard back...
Doesn't look good for them if they are having cash flow problems.
I never even knew they existed until now and they are only based a mile away from me. Would be a shame if they are no good now that I know they exist!
my mate had this issue with them too after ordering some wheels a while back, they kept fobbing him off etc, and eventually he got the wheels some 5 weeks later down the line, they told on two occassions that they were posted out via a courier and that they didnt have the tracking number, both times a lie as the next time he rung up another collegue (whom clearly didnt know the order history) and was told that they hadnt been dispatched yet as they were still waiting to be built!
he did eventually get them though he was on the brink of claiming money from credit card company....
I ordered some bits from them last year that were listed as in stock on the website. Parts turned up nearly 4 weeks later, but only after several phone calls and emails. Won't be using them again.

Don't bother - they are definitely no good. Used to be my LBS but after a couplr of experiences with them I preferred to travel further afield to get decent service and guaranteed stock...
Never used them but this all seems very bad indeed. Maybe post something here:
facebook not updated for a year bar some bloke askign for a refund a month ago says it all really?
