I rode the Beast recently on a fully rigid bike (not bragging) and found the rocky, man-made bits were on/just over my limit (actually probably do-able with a bit more confidence). Is that surprising? Is this where suspension becomes needed / much more fun?

The Tawr is much shorter and less technical. Bit disappointing IMHO.

Was up there Saturday,rode Dragons Back & Tarw,great ride.Does nobody ever ride ride Tarw anymore,can't be many other people as I always ride it when I go to CYB & can't remember the last time I saw anyone else over that side....... 😕

Short or less tech trails are just as much fun and good to hone basic skills.
Plus depends on your time availability.
I used a GoPro HD on a chest mount.
The Tawr trail's tech/fireroad plod balance can be maredly improved if you know how to cut off the pointless climbs and loops. The resultant shortened version is quite amenable to a balls-out approach.
