This one.
http://singletrackmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/akrigg-the-water-cycle-new-video/

Anyone recognise any of the locations?
The bit under the bridge seems to be the bridge at the top of Garreg Ddu, Elan Valley.

The sea arch at the end is 'The Green Bridge of Wales' in Pembrokeshire

Wasn't my cup of tea. All seems a bit same old same old. Nice scenery though.

More exceptional stuff from Chris, proving he's a very versatile rider.

Wasn't my cup of tea.

Show us your 'cup of tea' then. (not a picture of a cup of tea though)

Excellent. I got scared walking across that 'Green Bridge'. Surprised he doesn't break his leg more often.

I didn't like it, I couldn't possibly get any enjoyment from watching a cyclist demonstrate their high level of competency and skill of their chosen niche, nor could I appreciate the skill, dedication and discipline to achieve that level of skill.

Said almost every STW poster. 🙄

Again, young lads like him and Danny Mac pushing the limits of what can be achieved on a mountain bike.

You must have difficulty reading.

Not on this one particularly, mainly referring to when similar videos have been posted. Usually that's the general reply.

There was a lot of furious pedalling, but I liked it all the same.

Yeah, bit more aggressive compared to his more relaxed style. Good polar opposites.

It looked like some of the ground he was on required the pedalling to keep up the needed speed.

I like it a lot.

Often prefer Akrigg to MacAskill as his stuff seems less set up.

With the best will in the world, he's riding a bike. What do you want him to do, bounce along on his head..?

Just brilliant. Might even prefer it to A Hill In Spain. Akrigg rides for real like most of us ride in our heads.

True, 3x9 and he could have maintained a far more natural cadence.

Bit riding along the sea shore near the end was Southerndown (aka Dunraven) I think. I've paddled a kayak there (possibly over where he was riding), but never ridden a bike!

edit: was also one of the locations for his fatbike vid (I knew I'd seen it being ridden before, but had to google).

So,so.
Despite that fuurious pedalling there was too much showing off and so he didn't get any Strava KOMs.

Must admit I prefer some of his other stuff, this one didn't really grab me in the same way. Can't put my finger on why though.

No doubt someone will be along in a moment to belittle me, my riding etc because I had the audacity to not like this video.

I saw that gap when it first appeared in shot and thought "holy carp, no waaaay!!! I cannot watch this!!!".

Then he stopped, so it was fine. 😀

Amazing that it was shot in a single take too.

I like his videos because he rides a normal bike, rides normal trails or countryside and seems to actually go somewhere. There's always loads of stuff he does which I genuinely think I could try to do myself, it isn't all massive jumps and insane trials drops and tricks.

I really enjoyed it. It lacked a bit of the home made charm of his older stuff but wasn't really any the worse for it imo.

I am one of the (small minority) of miserable bastards who didn't like Brandon Semenuk's BMX video. Imagine that, people having opinions, liking one thing, disliking another, subjectivity etc etc etc. Crazy world we live in.

Me too!

I prefer Akriggs videos over the likes of Semenuk. Its the kind of stuff you could imagine yourself riding out on normal trails.*

* Thats the same imagination that belongs to someone who hasn't mastered a wheely yet.

+1 - probably nothing I could do apart from spinning my legs on the flat, but it inspires you to think maybe a bit more is possible

Beryl Burton would have done the gap at the end

I like Akrigg because he does amazing things in the sorts of places I would ride too. I think he's more relatable than others for that reason, like someone else suggested above.

Another cracker from Akrigg. Can anyone explain the Mongoose association to me? Can you even buy them in the UK any more, or do these videos have marketing value across the pond?

Very good.

I find it amazing what he can do with what must be a 30lb bike - i.e. riding it like a trials bike 😯

It really makes me want to move from Suffolk - Thetford/Brandon isn't quite the same .....

Great fun watching that and playing 'spot the South Wales locations'. I know most of them from walking - most of them are not places a normal person would be able to ride a bike very far.

I've never seen Sgwd yr Eira with so little water in it! Every time I've been behind it it's been raging and I've got soaked.

I'd think thru Aire Valley Cycles, where he was an employee since leaving school (I think), they were Mongoose dealers for a long time. I presume that's from where he got introduced to them and sponsorship. Does seem a bit strange that the two are still together, who buys a Mongoose mtb anymore?, can you even buy a Mongoose mtb in the UK anymore?

You seem to be able to buy the tat end of the mongoose range, not the nice stuff that he rides and i would actually be interested in

Liked the Vid, liked quite a few of his Vids too. Nice outside shots in real life. Mans got skills and their multiplyin' but sometimes I'd like to see a bit more Fun n Giggles.

S'bout it.

I loved it. I think the drone has brought a lot to this video over his other ones- I like the movement with wide shots of nice scenery.

The bit at the end was pretty squeaky bum time, even if he didn't do the gap of death at the end.

As mentioned above, he seems more like a "normal" rider than other vid makers, his vids are him playing on his bike, like most of us do just much, much more skilled. I like this one a lot for that reason.

He's also awesome as he used to ride (and I think helped develop) the square tubed Pace trials frame in what, 2000 maybe?

I like his frantic style, but as I commented on the front page, "the Water Cycle", in Wales, without rain? How is that possible?

Saw it shared on facebook and was a bit disappointed by someone's comment: "now that's proper mountain-biking". No its not (IMO)

I think that is his best yet. It's the way he rides everything with momentum that appeals to me. The trials type moves (without the hoppity/on the brakes style of a trials rider) used in the descent of the gully were amazing.

For me he is about the best of the guys putting out videos. I ride trials and get bored of watching the overtly trials based ones.(see that terrible one from Aurélien Fontenoy a few weeks ago to see what i mean)
Of course there must be quite a lot of failed attempts and setting up shots but it does not feel that way when you are watching.

Great video, and as a Welshy, a great advert for Wales!

That gully he drops into at the start is very, very steep, unbelievable that he rode down it!

I watched it this morning, i preferred it to the Danny Mac style...as has been said above, it looks like places I (used to) ride 😉

Always have a soft spot for Chris Akrigg. I lost in the final of the Mountain Mayhem drag race to him. After seeing off the competition dressed as Amy Winehouse, he revealed himself under his gimp mask just before the final race between the two of us. He tore my ****ing legs off.

In the interest of starting wild internet speculation, I think the pulling of this may have a connection to the fact we're in the middle of negotiating further access in Wales, and now is a very delicate time to be condoning extensive off-bridleway riding in National Parks ,when it's all hanging in the balance?

Ha, yes, brilliant. I can just see some frothing buffoon pointing at the video and saying "See, if we grant them access, this is what they'll do". If only.

I am a big fan of his and think he is an amazing rider but didn't enjoy this one as much as his others. I got a bit bored half way through and had rather lost interest by the end. Great scenery though.

Maybe he took a fit of pique when he saw how many views Semenuk's segment got and pulled it himself.

(although I'd suspect it's maybe music licensing or something similar)
