Having somewhat impulsively bought a new ‘winter/training’ bike frame and fork on Monday I took it upon myself to order some parts online which have been dispatched and are apparently arriving today. Four orders from four separate shops so four different couriers. Now in my defence I bought the XT drivetrain from my LBS but these are parts they either didn’t have or I discovered I needed after I got home and I’m not going to be able to get to the LBS and they won’t have a single Easton tubeless valve anyway... who will have one of those on the shelf!

So back to the sweepstake we have:
St John Street Cycles - Easton tubelesss valve - Parcel Force ( by 08:33 apparently)
Amazon - GXP BB - Amazon (by 8pm...)
CRC - front brake, dropper - Yodel 😐
Wiggle - rear brake, grips, saddle - unknown...

Wiggle/CRC it was cheaper to buy the front brake from wiggle and the rear from CRC...

So what do recon will stymie the build. If amazon don’t turn up I’m pretty stuffed for starting to be honest.

I’m guessing the bookies of the forum will be giving good odds on it being Yodel!

I'm guessing you'll need to go to the toilet and be sat there just as Yodel man ring the doorbell.

That's my kinda luck.- As yesterday proved.. 🙄

I might just take a handful of diacalm so I don’t run the risk.

How much was the delivery charge on that?!

Oh and Yodel is the weakest link 🙁

Excellent thread ! To quote Thin Lizzy in the song Johnny,
Five to one he gets away
That’s the odds I’m gonna give
Five to four they blast him away
Three to one he’s gonna live

Good Luck !

UPDATE 2:

Just had an email from Wiggle saying my wiggle order is out for delivery... with Yodel... 😥

How much was the delivery charge on that?!
less than the cost of driving to the LBS to buy a spare inner tube for use for a few days. And me typically pinching it with a tyre lever which seems to be my favourite trick.

UPDATE 3:

Having just checked the tracking numbers the CRC and Wiggle tracking numbers are the same (from separate emails) ... so either it’s all coming in one joint CRC / Wiggle or wiggle have emailed me to tell me my CRC order is out for delivery. Or visa versa....

Now my tubeless valve has turned up I can set up my wheels. Do I dare nip to the garage or will the waiting Yodel driver pick that precise moment to run up to my front door...

I suppose I could get the wheels out and tubeless them on the drive but then I risk the humiliation of covering myself in sealant in front of the neighbours...

Good grief you're on your own man. Into the kitchen for wheel fettling! Or if feeling brave/lucky the lounge.

My bet is on the latter, got a text from Wiggle last week which was for a CRC order.

Do you think everyone gets angry when stuff doesn't show up, or just people who are waiting for bikes/bike bits?

I've not raged in any normal life situation as much as I have when a new bike bit hasn't arrived when it should have!

After some digging my Wiggle order is with Hermes. And is expected for delivery today. Apparently.

UPDATE 4:
My CRC / Yodel delivery arrived. I saw the van pull up and was at the door before he got out the van.

CRC order turned up in a Wiggle box. Practically torn in half. Fortunately the contents hadn't escaped and were not damaged. I got to check them as the driver foolishly handed me his digital pad and I didn't give it back until I had checked the contents.

What this thread needs is a picture of someone crashing their bike down some steps in Bridgenorth.

That was one time, about 10 years ago. I was going to say I had got better on a bike, but I'm not sure that's true...

I usually have my stuff delivered to work - that way Yodel can't say no one was in......

Although this time it's backfired on me - currently under my desk I have:
Marzocchi Forks
XT group set
SLX brakes
2 tyres
Bars

Trying to get that lot back on a crowded train is gonna be fun....

UPDATE 5: Hermes / Wiggle delivery arrived and shock horror intact. Just waiting on Amazon to delivery the BB which is obviously holding up the build...

So the answer to the question is no, I’m probably not going to be able to build by new bike today. Friday however, is a new day!

UPDATE 6:
Amazon have delivered my bb and it's the correct one by the looks of it!

Amazing. Four couriers, four deliveries and only one destroyed package. Much rejoicing!

Bike building tomorrow me thinks!

Aye, but the garage is cold and the light is dim and I am hamfisted at the best of times so I should probably wait until daylight so I'm not rushing!

Yeah I cocked up there.....
Had frame delivered to home when I knew I'd be in.
Might take tools, frame and wheels on train and build at work.....

You build bikes in the parts store room? Dining room for building, surely. Then photos in the kitchen.

UPDATE 7:

Not only have I built the TRc but I’ve ridden it and everything. Definitely has potential, feels like a shorter travel Nomad. Took it to Ribbesford (DH lite) and did a few laps, being shorter travel everything feels slightly sketchier. The rear sus doesn’t track or grip as well as the Nomad but that probably as I think the rebound on the shock needs attention or replacing with Cane Creek DB air to make it more like the Nomad... Legs also need replacing.

UPDATE 8:

Went for a steady pedal today, only a 8miles / 700ft climbing (thankfully it's still 9months to Ard Rock...). Does climb excellently even with my noodle legs. Summer tyre choice not optimal for autumn mud.

Have a photo of it actually complete (includes authentic mud to prove I actually went out on it):

Well funny story... Dickhead here is doing the Marathon on the sat and the Enduro sport on the Sunday.

So I'll be taking along both, TRc for the marathon and the Nomad for the Enduro Sport (my mate will prob use the TRc for the Enduro sport as it's slightly lighter than his Entourage...)

Basically I'm going to die. Donations to my chosen charity please rather than flowers.
