Is one of the best representations of road cycling I could even have imagined. As short as it is at 30 seconds, it captures the sounds and the feelings that I would associate with my own individual riding experience.

What do you think? And can you suggest any more good clips that summarise it for you - either road or off-road?

An oldie, but it's usually more like this...

...taking some non cycling  mates out for a splash through the puddles on whatever bikes they can drag out of the shed.

No cake in your vid SR, we can fix that.....

Where's Mol btw? Not seen him around for a while.

Funny you should say so. I actually messaged him earlier today to tell him he was missed on here. He claimed to be ‘busy working’ or some such thing.

Too busy for STW? Where his priorities have gone, I can’t begin to imagine.

my cycling experience at home is characterised mostly by

"**** it, where is XYZ piece of equipment, where are my keys?," followed by "Oh, bloody battery's flat" and so on and on...

🙂

Once, when I was in a rush to get to my meeting place with a few other cyclists, I had to drink instant. Fortunately the ride itself wasn't affected too badly.

Where's the bit where...

- He opens the garage door and curses because the car and the bin are blocking it and he has to run around and move them?

- He rides off and realises he's forgotten his helmet and has to turn back?

- He's forgotten that his pump can't attach to the valve extender he uses with his deep section rims?

- The ungodly creaking from carbon rims freaks him out?

- He's getting up off the saddle because you've got a case of numb-plums?

It does all look a bit too slick and effortless, My own road riding "experience" does have more pre-ride faffing, nothing like the level of matching kit and bike, I certainly don't align bottle logo's anything like as neatly as that chap... Oh and I'm a fat wheezing bastard too...

I think it reflects some sort of aspirational marketed goal we should all apparently be aiming for, an "effortlessly stylish Euro-roadie" lifestyle, rather than the main UK reality of "Ruddy faced, over-exerted MAMIL"...

Things that have nothing in common with reality in that video.

1) cycling kit that actually fits

2) where are all the other bikes leant up against it in the pile?

3) no extra gillet, arm warmers, cap, stuffed in a second cut up water bottle.

4) no bulging pockets and/or saddle bag

And was he pushing at the end?
