......ain’t it ****ing great?. Currently experiencing an almost excruciating at times level of tingling and “ooooh, ya ****er” shooting nerve stimulations yet it is unsettlingly satisfyingly pleasing????? 🤔 , almost like a constant reminder of the first genuine “oh my **** it’s finally hot” day of summer ☀️ . It hit 28degrees here today (Kirkcudbright, Galloway) and at 10pm tonight it was still showing 20degrees in the pubs beer garden.
Having been away for the previous week up at Aviemore I broached my local trails today for their first ride in 10 days, a snake like sliver of singletrack that unless ridden frequently soon becomes overgrown with encroachment of nettles and briars that can rip you a proper scar and leave your arms cut to shreds, as it pointed out to myself tonight as I staggered through the pub doors looking like a cheap second rate extra from a SAW movie that I was dripping blood from my shins, Admittedly I do stagger through doors, entrances, up stairs, down stairs..........to be perfectly honest I wouldn’t class my attempt at forward motion as any form of walking, it’s more akin to the failing wobble of a gyroscope - I could go down at any time yet as long as there is another hand hold or secure object to pinball myself in the opposite direction I’m usually quite functional at getting to where I wish to arrive, although it is usually not in a straight line.
MS is a complete **** though as it ultimately it robs you of your independence as a person, I’m not quite there yet but as long as I still have the ability to shock the locals in my pub with the amount of blood on show and still have that sweet satisfaction of being able to get a buzz from my singletrack that I’ve built, maintained and been friends with for over 25 years, my favourite section of trail leads through a particular late afternoon sun hit section of trail that whilst only 200ft long is entirely south facing on a hillside so it is laden with the stimulating and euphoric scent of pine resin bubbling away in the heat and releasing neuro enhancing terpenoids to infect my brain for hours afterwards, I may have a failing body but it’s not totally useless, there are times I can get away with a ride, other times I pay for it for a number of days afterwards but today was a good day, a bloody good day 😀 , there’s never a sweeter pint than that what is deserved, It’s e-bike cycling but that still counts doesn’t it? 😉
ps:nettles ****ing rule 👍
Ahh shit **** buggery....... the original thought to this initial post was the scent of pine resin still fresh in my mind yet I totally missed out that fact in the post above, this omission can only be due to lagavullin, perhaps a little bit of weed as well but definitely not due to sativex, To be perfectly honest a single skinner of grapefruit is far more effective and much easier to regulate.
revised post below with my original inspiration of pine resin

ps:nettles ****ing rule 👍, thanks to the intense tingling I can’t feel the muscle spasms...... or it could just be the 16yr old lagavullin 🥃 getting to work......then again it could be the weed......or the sativex (legally prescribed I may add)....anyway...........wherever I lay the blame/accusation at for the pleasure of the days excursions and experiences i hope you all had a similar bank holiday weekend
Try repeating that when you wake up ...
Glad you had a good time !😁
A nice gentle one to wake up to ..
Fantastic. Gonzo journalism of the highest order sir. Keep it up 🙂
I went out and did 25 miles late fri evening, including messing about with my new hammock, it’s ace to see dust on the trails.
i went to a particular place, I’ve been going there for 12 years, and fri was the first time I’ve seen it dry, totally awesome.
Yup warm evenings and beer and nettles. Too many times and so many fun scars.
Oh yes, I came back from a trail run last night with stings on my knees and annoyed my wife all evening by telling how nice it felt. She now thinks I’ve even weirder than she did before.
Love the tingle of nettle stings after a dry dusty evening ride, ideally while supping a pint in a beer garden.
Currently preoccupied by a huge horsefly bite making my left knee appear to be twice the size of the right one. Less pleasant but twice as tingly!
Hate the nettles so I wear summer tights
