How do you know it's an eBike? It looks like all their others.

Very close zippy! In fact I'll give you that. £6900

I know because I actually read an article on the main page. Weird eh?

I particularly like how they've achieved 4 different angles each on both the downtube and toptube 😀

They were pretty way ahead of the ebike game back 2005

Thanks for pointing that out I think that's why it's genuinely quite unsettling to look at.

Finally they’ve dumped the slab battery, all their E-bike range looks loads better, pity it’s only 504Wh

Given that’s a 36 on the front that’s one chunky / bloated looking bike.....

I actually really like the look of the Propain Ekano from the article on the front page but they've stuck with 504 w/h battery for 2021 also

...for the base spec one. £8300 for a nice* one.

*I mean, it’s an Orange, so all relative.

I like the weld a quarter of the way down the downtube, for no apparent reason...

Although, in ugly terms, this is running it a close second...

[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]

I'm sure it functions well, but it's the "well, we ain't got space for the shock thee wants, what should we do, Albert? Cut hole in't down tube, Bob!"

Orange make lovely looking bikes...

every branch on the way down the ugly tree

but this is a problem with E bikes in general

The downtubes always look massively oversized compared to the top tube

The fork looks like ill and brittle. Like it will snap under the weight of the destroyer class bike frame attached to it.

I dread to think how much they actually weigh, they don't seem to publish that for some reason.

Holy mother of Jeebus. That is grotesque. The one kind thing I can say about it is that Nicolai have an even uglier e-bike.

You can't get it that wrong when everyone else is getting their act together.

I'll take one of these please

You would think nowadays with CAD and 3D modelling you would be able to design something that looks good in the virtual world before setting something down in the metal, but that just looks like a turd and thats coming from someone who quite likes the appearance of regular Orange bikes.

Irony mode/

They're taking advantage of the huge amount of redundant office furniture now available due to Covid - you've gotta make something out of all those dead filing cabinets!

I can't get over the size of the dinner plate on the back ? is that so you get the fat ****er up 1% incline with a flat battery ?

It's almost artistic in it's visual dissonance. Put it in the Tate with a generated artybollocks statement.

My work 'Orange Phase' explores the relationship between consumerist fetishism and unwanted gifts. With influences as diverse as Nietzsche and Joni Mitchell, new variations are manufactured from both mundane and transcendant structures.

Ever since I was a teenager I have been fascinated by the endless oscillation of relationships. What starts out as contemplation soon becomes manipulated into a dialectic of distress, leaving only a sense of what could have been and the prospect of a new beginning.

As momentary phenomena become clarified through frantic and repetitive practice, the viewer is left with a clue to the darkness of our existence.

https://www.artybollocks.com/generator.html

That was genuinely the first statement I generated BTW, it's strangely apt.

Christ, they've gone and made one that's even uglier than the new Whyte ebike!

This is a major issue! I was lusting after a new bike the other day, my son says, No get an ebike!
I'm like No! it's utterly impossible to lust after an ebike! They're so ****ing ugly and twice the price of a beautiful Rocky Mountain.
It's like your next car - you can choose between a Kia Soul and a Nissan Duke. Ah, erm that's ok, I'll stick with my old Passat cheers.

6900? You must be kidding; this is only £70 and does the same job on the Grandson.

Meh, every E-Bike pictured above looks hideous so the Orange is in good company.

Love Orange bikes, I actually think they look superb.

TBh mine gets loads of compliments. The e bike looks pretty much like the rest of them and to be fair most e bikes look odd.

I don't understand why most E-bike designers insist on trying to mould the battery/ motor 'into' the frame and don't just treat each element as separate. You end up with all these ugly profiled bits which don't really do anything other than attempt to 'smooth the lines' and the proportions end up looking like a dog's dinner.

Someone on here has a beautiful DIY E-bike where the 'E-bike' parts are just bolted onto a 'normal' frame, and it looks great.

If any bike manufacturers want to hire me I am available.

I'm an orange fan but I'm struggling with that.

As someone said, too many conflicting angles. Just looks messy.

I'm a filing cabinet fan but even compared to the older Orange Ebikes thats not pretty. TBH the only Ebike that looks alright is the Levo SL IMO

Guess the weight, I’m going to start with a conservative guesstimate of a metric tonne

It's the downtube / headtube interface that's makes small children run away crying. I have an E-Sommet and even I can't stomach the look of that Orange

Just goes to show one man's meat. I think they're gopping, and more than that they seem to use a tiny rear shock for packaging reasons / weight, gives me the fear that'll it'll damn near melt on a long rocky Alpine descent, and oddly some people do indeed take e-bikes on ski lifts.

Not really odd when you consider the price of them, doesn't leave much in the budget for an uplift bike.

I reckon there's a fair few decent looking ebikes around, tbh I'm a lot more interested in how a bike rides than how it looks, otherwise I'd never have come off my Cotic Soul for all the other bikes I've had.

I think the YT is possibly the best looking eBike to my eyes. The one I saw had a clever use of colour that managed to go some way toward hiding the bulk of the downtube.

E bikes in general are getting better looking I think - or am I just getting used to them?

The commencal looks good, as does the YT decoy, the orbea wild fs, and the trek rail. The massive downtubes are still a bit clumsy when viewed in the flesh though.

The orange is minging as are most haibikes, and other e mountain bikes from firms that are not traditionally associated with mountain biking but have got in on the emtb game.
