My lad & his mate went in for a chain & a tyre, boy behind counter says, 'you'll need a Shimano chain for a Shimano cassette, you can't use SRAM cos you'll have issues' & my lad's thinking, 'how come I don't have issues then'.
His mate picks up a 2.3 tyre & boy says, 'thats a 2.3 but it blows up to about 2.7' (WTF!)

Guy in Alpine Bikes in Edinburgh was refusing to sell me a 9-speed PowerLink because it wouldn't work with a Shimano chain, despite me telling him I was already using one. This wasn't the Saturday lad either - it was one of the mechanics.
I had a young fella try charge me 30 minutes labour for beating my biopace chainring into shape, thats an extreme case but by and large wtf do kids know about anything and a lot of them end up in bike shops.
Conversely though a grown up in another lbs seems to have fixed the faulty nerves in my foot which is more than the NHS could do given six months and every test known.

If he heard I was using an old SRAM 9spd powerlink on a KMC 10speed chain his head would explode.
