There's always threads here slagging different shops so just to redress the balance a little I'd like to say thanks to TF Tuned.
After a week away riding I noticed my shock wasn't quite feeling right on the last part of the last ride we did.
I had however been playing around a little with the adjusters as we'd been on an uplift day the day before.
I happened to be working near to TF for a couple of days this week so whipped my shock off and took it with me.
Dropped into TF for some advice on the off chance they could help me.
Spoke to Dave one of the techs there who couldn't have been more helpful.
After a few questions he put the shock on their dyno/tester rig and agreed that something wasn't quite right...
Turns out that an internal seal had blown and despite them being fully booked with work until the 16th he repaired the shock for me FOC and even had it ready and waiting for 11.00 the next day. 😀
Fantastic service.
Thanks again TF tuned and special thanks to Dave.
Did you buy it from them originally?
I did.
Still didn't expect for them to do it straight away when they're that busy though.
Great to meet you Stu! Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated from all of us at TF, especially 'Cane Creek' guru Dave 😉
Always been 'awsum' with me on every shock i've had done.
yeah made my marz 55s feel amazing and my ccdb inline .
I've also been most impressed with TF Tuned (Dave in particular) and the way they've sorted out the couple of issues with my Inline quickly and without fuss.
Great to meet you too Dave.
You guys are doing a great job and deserve some praise.
Agreed, have been very pleased with their service
Yep great service, must have been Daves fiddling that got my Inline sorted a couple of Saturdays ago.
Yeah, +1 for the TF guys. Had a monarch perfectly tuned by you guys and I believe you always did a good job with my brothers bike at the races.
Got my pikes back yesterday from TF. I was Kept informed of repair and tracking etc... The thing that impressed me was twice when I called to ask advice on upgrade and seals. The tech gave a good 5 mins of advice and recommendations.
It was that reason I chose to send my forks to them.
I emailed another repairer over a week ago with a few questions about a service and I'm still waiting for a reply.
I used them for the first time earlier in the year.
Their service is much more awesome than the op's spelling 😛
My speeling gets even woors when i've just cum bak fron the pub. 🙂
Have had two leftys done at TF Tuned recently and was very pleased with the communication, helpfulness and work carried out (big props to Greg at TFT!). The collection / delivery service makes it so much less hassle as well. Very impressed.
I've got two shocks from tf, more than happy with them.. Fox CTD on my anthem and a CCDB CS on my 5.
Chrisdiesel, out of curiosity what did you have done to your pikes?
Mine are approaching a year old, thinking of getting them serviced and tweeked..
I've also had great service from TF tuned. It's a pretty painless process. Hoping to get them to turn my CTD floats into something a bit closer to RCT Sids.
Another fan here, its not just the work done but the communication too....despite the online form where you fill in your (rider) details, what bike the forks/shock are from, how you ride, what you want from the suspension etc....the technician still takes the time to phone before starting work to have a chat, confirm what he has read, make his own suggestions etc...
I think deviant has nailed it there.
It's the attention to detail that does it.
Gold digger: my pikes were due a service and wasn't completely happy with the feel. I've tried different pressures and o/1/2 tokens... Had a good chat with tech from TF. I was thinking about the FAST upgrade but after I explained I never use anything but open setting he said there wasn't much point and recommended push seals/shim stack change and some other low friction bush... And he recommended 1+1/2 token... So he cut one in half.
Refitted today and a new -1+1/2 degree works headset so I'll see how it rides tomorrow...
I think I've got two tokens in mine, correct sag etc. But still find them divey under braking, but like you they mainly stay in open.
What do they feel like now they changed the shim stack?
Gold digger: just got home from a very wet CDB so was hard to judge but better small bump and general feel. Rebound much slower now (TF advice) felt great on big stuff but I do like the feel of 2 tokens to keep me high in the travel so may go back to 2.
TF did explain that pikes have lots of friction and the low friction bushes and push seals will improve after a few rides.
Generally very happy but wet rocks and roots today didn't feel like a place to mess about with settings and pressure etc.
Sorry if that contradicts but knackered.
Another double thumbs up for TF Tuned here. My wife bought a SH Santa Cruz Superlight with boggo Fox shock that felt pretty awful. The guys at TF managed to rebuild the shock with parts from a SH Fox Boost Valve CTD shock that we got from Ebay, and then they Push'd the shock. As others have mentioned, the attention to detail and customer contact from the guys at TF is first class.
The transformation in performance of the suspension is extraordinary. End result is that the suspension on her bike now outperforms that on my frame that cost almost 4x as much!
