Looking at getting a wheel truing stand to share around, so for a variety of road/mtbs, wheel sizes and I guess, hubs/axles. New to me so anything particular to look out for and/or any recommendations?

Thanks

I have the basic park one, used it last night to build a rear wheel up. It's quite flimsy for building a wheel, I have to use a big U clamp to hold it to the work bench (although you could fix it permanently with the screw holes) but I've had good results with it. I think you can spend loads but it's not really necessary unless you're building lots of wheels, I maybe build 6 a year and the park one is more than adequate. I don't clamp the wheel in so it'll cover all axles types, for bolt through I just rest the wheel in the 'slots'.

The big thing for me is getting the dish right, I haven't built the dishing tool nor bought one and therefore I'll often build a wheel up then have to redish with it in the frame.

Being honest, whilst the wheel stand does make things easier, you could easily get by with just a spoke key and use your frame to true it up.

This is the one I have
TS8

this would help with the issues I mentioned above but I dread to think how much it is
TS4.2

I picked up a (barely) used TS2.2 for £100 not so long ago and it's epic. I do have my old one to sell, now that you mention it... 😉

I have the 2.2 as well, i'm a tool tart though as a technician/engineer, i like the 2.2 as i can sit it between my legs whilst sat on the sofa watching footy in the background, it allows multi-tasking!
