So, following on from the other thread I now need to store a 700c wheel and tyre.

Anyone any recommendations for wheel bags?

Picked up a Polaris wheel bag recently for 24 quid. It's got double zips, some padding, a little stash pocket and is round.

I bought a pair of Hope bags and they’re massive. Quite flimsy too. Best bags I have are CRC ones which unfortunately aren’t available anymore.

All much of a muchness. Except my continental double wheel bag that has lots of padding. The Mavic and HED ones are just covers with little protection.

I'd disagree with a lot of the above.  IME theres a lot of difference between bags.  We had a triple DT Swiss bag for years. Solid materials, some padding, but was sized for road wheels so wouldn't take a 29er with a mtb tyre.

I've got some very flimsy, unpadded, bags that came free with a purchase of wheels from Funn-wheesl in Germany.  Massively oversized - don't know what they built them for.

The Evoc bags are a different class.  They're the right size for a modern mtb wheel and tyre, solid materials, decent padding, and best feature the plastic cap over the axle area which is where other bags get damaged and damage other things.  They do a road wheel sized bag as well.  The downside? like all EVoc stuff it's very expensive.

Another vote for the EVOC got 29 x 2.6 in mine, well designed with padding, good zips, big enough and a harder shell bit over axles and a little Velcro bag fixed inside for axle or allen key
