I'd like to buy a torque wrench, but a couple of the bolts I need to tighten are screwed in from the back, effectively a reverse thread. Do torque wrenches work in both directions?
THIS ONE will only work for tightening a normal threaded bolt, so is unsuitable, but do others ratchet both ways like a socket wrench?
Any recommendations?
Decathlon do a bike specific one that works both ways.
My Park clickers go both ways (Oooo err!).
My Norbar one goes both ways. You want one were the square drive bit pops out and switches round.
The are like ratchet wrenches, direction is reversible.
Looking at that torque one I bet you could flip the gauge plastic over for the other direction.
Something like this probably better

Mine goes both ways too, but more importantly how accurate is the one you propose to buy?
I'd check that as some wrenches torquing below 10nm are shall we say, not accurate..
Picked the Decathlon set up recently and the calibration cert says +/- 2% so happy at that
I've got the topeak one and I'm not sure you can move the plastic part but can check if you like?
Only concern I would have is that when looking into getting one I think I read that using ratchet ones to undo bolts didn't do them any good.
Never use them to undo anything - only tighten!
I have a Giant branded one that goes both ways. I think most of the ratchet based ones work in the same way.
Thanks for all the responses. What I'd read about the Topeak one was that twisting anti clockwise would damage the calibration. I'll look for a ratchet one.
