thinking of buying one are they any good with just a single pivot ? I know santa cruz do the nickle and butcher is it worth the extra money , the thing is with the heckler everything will swap over no need to buy a tapered headset which bumps up the price again ! also is the Heckler standard 135mm QR ?

Great frame, easy maintenance single pivot, not too heavy, massive mud clearance, plenty of standover clearance, looks good, can't fault it.

Great Bike, ride best with a coil shock, I had a 2007 with a DHX-5 coil shock, tried the Float RP23 never felt as good, even climbing was better on the coil shock. I started out with a Pike coil fork , ended up with a Coil Lyric, 140mm is quite steep head angle compared to the frames of today 69degs I think it slacks out to 68 with the 160mm Lyric.
Not ridden the Butcher so can't comment although it is a slacker frame, which is good for the downs 😀

Also tried an RP23 on mine and didn`t get on with it. Either had no small bump sensitivity or bottoming out all the time. Went for a DHX air and this sorted things out. Takes a bit of time and effort to get the shock right but worth it.

As for the rest of the bike it is fairly light, really plush and cracking value at the moment. I did snap a swingarm but had landed a 8 foot drop really flat. They have also since redesigned the swingarm.

Dont know what you want it for? If it is for the burlier end of things think about an orange Blood. Seen one advertised on line new for about 2000 in the last few days. Not sure where but guess it wouldnt be too hard to find

Is that a trick question? The Heckler is a legendary bike, do a google search or heckler reviews or check them out over on MTBR. With an average 4.78 out of 5 from a total of 264 reviews they can't be bad 😆 I had the older heckler and it was cracking machine. Not sure how the new one compares but the old one was quite short on the top tube so something to be aware of if you're into a more stretched out position.

Superb bike, just finished my build and can't fault it.
Took it to the forest of Dean last week and it just took whatever was thrown at it.
Going back next week for some more fun! 😀
