My Dad has asked me to fix up his road bike. Chainrings, chain and cassette are totally worn out. It has a Sram Rival derailleurs, 2 X 10 speed.
Is it OK to mix and match different brands of Chainrings, chain and cassette? Currently has a Shimano cassette and FSA rings with a Sram chain.... And he admitted that he has always had to fumble gears to get them right.
Found some ultegra chainrings going cheap, so was hoping they would be ok if I got a Sram cassette and chain.
I stick to same brand on my MTB, or at least quoted compatibility.
Cheers in advance.
Don't see any problem mix match sram shimano chainsets cassettes chains
Well done to your dad for wearing out a chainset
Suspect fumbling ? Is maybe could do with some intermediate chain swop outs indexing possibly too busy riding ?
The chainring teeth are more like little spikes now, and he has changed out the chain and cassette randomly. Shows all the signs of distress servicing.
I was hoping a good clean and proper adjustment was all that was needed. Not so...
I used to run a Shimano 11 speed double chainset with a 10 speed SRAM drivetrain, no issues.
Should be fine
