Contemplating converting the Pushfit to threaded. Measuring the BB shell I find that it is 87 mm wide.

Surely if I convert it and use external bearings my crank won't fit anyone.

Stick with press fit, I've no reason to complain about the XT ones I run.

As for changing, bash out with mallet & screwdriver - watch the frame. Fit using a length of threaded bar, nuts & washers, or a big bench vice, B&D handyman or a big G-clamp

The Wheels Manufacturing or more expensive hope version , they screw together and the cups stay put so you just tap the bearings out when they wear.

Less creaky & less likely to damage frame when replacing bearings

Mine was very easy to change. Bashed the old one out with a but of dowel, I think I knocked the new one in too. The plastic mounting is soft and will deform to assist you. Of course a bit of care is required but the level of force was not. And it's been fine and creak free. Not seeing an issue with it currently.

No, just very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very dark blue.

Stick with PF and use a headset press. You can bash them out with a headset cup removal tool.

Looks like a PF41 / BB90 bottom bracket - you can't convert to a threaded BB. As suggested, screw-together designs like Wheels Mfg help maintain bearing alignment and are better sealed than cheaper alternatives.

That wheels one looks like the way to go. By the time I've bought a bb and tools it will be cheaper.

My Pivot is a bb92 and the 2 XT's haven't lasted long, a Gusset lasted a while but eventually parted with £85 for a hope been in over a year no creaks or nothing wish I'd gone Hope earlier

If that’s a Giant, don’t buy the Hope one, it won’t fit.

Wheels or Hope is the way to go (or Hambini if you're loaded).
Only one thing worse than crocs,
Crocs with socks.
Hey wwaswas, he got them from a normal shop, they shaft you everytime, but they're good for kicking bishop's up the arse.

Is the crank 24mm or 30mmm?

I'm assuming it's 24mm as I offered up a shimano BB and it felt sloppy.

My plan is to use an XT push fit with an XT chainset from another bike. It's a bloody nightmare trying to find out what size I need and whether spacers are needed.

I've got pf92 on my Jeffsy and stupidly went for a 30mmm RF crankset. Lovely crank but I'm very limited with BB choice by it.
Got a nice sram carbon cs in that psa from a while back to fit over Winter. That will allow me to go Hope or W Manufacturing.👍

The Hope BB I have for pf92 is just 2 push in bearings with a flange.... You can't change just the actual bearings.
Still, lasting ok so far but when it goes the 24mm sram crank is going in along with a better bb.👍

I have a hope push fit bb with xtr cranks on my stump jumper. First one I've ever had. I was worried at first but after a few years running it's been great. From time to time i strip it down, clean it, re fit, still on the same bearings.

If you plan to keep it a while invest in the tools. You can pick them up 2ns hand as people have bought newer bikes with a different set up.

If you go for the Wheels Manufacturing option, just make sure that you have the right size BB tool. If it's like the one I put on my Dude (fatbike) if uses an "odd" size BB tool. Neither of the ones I had fitted so I had to buy a new one. The BB itself was fine though. Easy to fit and creak free for the year or so since I fitted it.
