Looking at a pair of chromo ones, not posh Nittos but Planet X jobs w/aheadset. Thinking being that these days I’m enjoying wide alloy risers on the Longitude (rigid 29er), but possibly looking for something polished metal (seatpost is silver Thomson) and with maybe more backsweep, also vibration-damping and room for a little fuel bag/phone bag. Bonus with bullmoose = not also having to buy a (silver) stem to match, as the stem is part of the bar!

700g tho, but that includes the stem. Bike isn’t light to be fair as is built for all day comfort and dealing with a big rider.

But there are the versions of the bar.

Bullmoose

and ‘Funae’ (for an extra 30 quids, but weighs 60gms more?)

WWSTWD?

Quite a leap of faith. Anyone here use/d some?

I've ridden with some on my Surly Krampus for a while and really like them. Though currently I'm running wide drops on it.

I had the original ones that On-One/PX sold, they are branded as Nitto on the front of the bar, and AFAIK all the ones PX sell are made for them by Nitto.

Wide enough (though I made them wider with some bar extenders - an extra 20mm) each side, and the sweep is really comfy for all day riding.
The sweep puts your hand in the same position as if you were using a 45/50mm stem.

My only gripe was that I'd have liked a bt more rise on the 'stem'.

Here's a pic:

Total style over substance - no functional advantages and various disadvantages. But if they float your boat, go for it.

(I've got a pair on my commuter)

Thanks all. Style over substance isn’t my style no matter how stylish they might look. Also ‘narrow and heavy’ sounds rubbish, and (I read elsewhere) super-stiff? Not looking positive.

Drawing board now looks like:

- VO MK2 Crazy Bars (are they even released yet, not the 666mm, the new 780mm?)
- One One/PX OG V2s
- Er…
*edit - Some North Rounder bars I have left over from old 26er protogravel project. They are for MTBish 29er (with a wide-shoulder rider) @ 610mm. Currently running 710 Sunline risers and the width feels almost perfect

some steel bullmoose are heavy stiff old things, the right ones in ti are lovely light, beautiful sweep, comfy and bling. The ritchey carbon one were also fab.

If you want a silver alt bar with sweep and comfort that can also do technical stuff, the correct answer is a jones loop bar in silver.

Possibly, I’m not wedded to silver though and my Geoff Loop honeymoon was short and not so sweet.

May have scratched the high-sweep itch for now though as last night dug out and fitted the North Rounders. They are much better in traffic and on narrow paths as I’m sitting straight up and they are narrower than MTB bars but not too narrow. Plenty of control for the purpose, even descended a few flights of steps. Much more vibration damping/flex than the MTB bars. Tight circles not the best ie kneestrike. But on the whole for town and towpath & light gravel they are supercomfy.

Bad news is I’m already missing the wide MTB risers. Must’ve been a sweet-spot. Good news is it’s a 5 minute switch.
