It seems at full compression my bike's swingarm contacts the front mech when running a traditional 9speed chainset with double and bash. This was after a lot of fiddling with cage angle and positioning to try to remove the possibility of contact.
I'm told running one of the newer 10speed doubles would not have the issue, I imagine this is due to the rings being mounted further out from the bottom bracket. The question I have is are all 10speed double cranks created equal? I've got my eye on FSA afterburner, Shimano XT and Sram X0.
I don't want to give up my perfectly functional 9speed mech and shifters, will there be any compatability issues using 9speed front mech and chain?
The alternative could be a front mech with a thinner cage but I don't know if such a thing exist, I'm running a 2004 model XT.
Sorry for the long post, any help much appreciated, before anyone says it though, I don't have the legs for 1x9!
