tedious BB size question

I want a shorter crankarm length and I currently have a pressfit style shell with a Sram DUB BB installed using a 29mm axle crankset.

I'm pretty sure my next bike will not be pressfit as ideally I'd like to go 30mm external threaded so don't really want to have to purchase another DUB compatible crankset if I can avoid it.

I've heard in some cases though that a 30mm BB and axle on a pressfit style shell can introduce problems with noise and possible play that can be hard to resolve.

Is this true and what experiance do people have?

Don't think it is likely to be an issue.

The issue with 30mm spindle cranks and some press-fit BB types is sometimes tiny bearings that don’t last very long - PF30 is OK with an ID of 46mm, but when you get 42mm or 41mm ID BB shells the bearings are really small/wear quicker that can lead to noise and play.

Get yourself on You Tube, and search for Hambini, he's qualified enough to tell you all of the likely issues, their causes, and what you may be able to do about them.

Get yourself on You Tube, and search for Hambini,

He's just predicted the end of pf bb's and a return to threaded bb's.
