Hi guys. Looking for a bit of advice on some brake damage following a crash. I came down heavily a few weeks ago (heavy enough to break a bone in my shoulder) and damaged my rear brake lever. Externally the lever looks fine but it returns slowly now, lacking the spring of it's undamaged front neighbour.
They're Elixir 3 hydraulic disc brakes. The brake works but the lever just returns slowly. Given that this took the brunt of the crash my thinking was the internals had probably been damaged (bladder/piston, spring, etc.) and that replacing these would sort the problem. Any thoughts? Does that sound reasonable or is there anything else I should be looking at?
Thanks, Gerry.
Sorry to hear about your shoulder.
No real loss to strip it down and see if there is anything obvious first.
Sounds like something is bent, lever/body/piston, and a complete new lever would be a better bet.
