Hi guys..

I've just routed my brake hose through my frame... only to realise I think.I've cut it at the wrong end.

Can't seem to remove this connector from the hose to re-attach it.

Can I buy a new connector for this (caliper) end?

Any help greatly appreciated?

I don't think you can (and yes, you have cut the wrong end)

That's why it won't unscrew then. Pants... not bothered about the buying a new hose... it's the fact I've got to re-route the flipping cable!

Tape the lever end of the new hose to the end of old one near the disk mount and then pull it through as you remove the old one.

Why did you cut it at all?

you'll need compression washers and a new olive for a start

Undo the bolt and try to find a matching Banjo.

Formula and Sram-DOT fluid.
Shimano-Mineral.

The new hose part should come with the banjo end (the end you cut) crimped on and the olive and barb for you to fit, once you've cut the other end to the desired length.

Can anyone tell me if there is different types of shimano olive and barb?

I've pinched a hose of another brake I had (slx) but had to cut 8t down as it was super long.

I've seen what appears to be a silver and a brass coloured barb... will either be OK with an xt brake from circa 2014?

Brass coloured one is Saint specific. That's what I was told when I needed a new hose for my Saints

You can join the hoses with a piece of cable tie jammed into the open ends (the tapered end and cut your own taper into the other end of the piece) then if their relatively firmy attached, push the new hose through while supporting the other one. Should guide it through easy enough.

The brass barb has a larger (2.3mm I think) diameter than the silver (2.1mm) barb, and is used in the low pressure hoses, the silver ones are for hoses marked high pressure. The olives are the same on both. If you buy from your LBS, ask if they have a spare red barb from a reverb fitting kit, one end is LH thread, the other RH thread, and will fit between your old and new hose (if you turn it the correct way) allowing you to pull the new one through with the old one.
