Don't understand all the love for the rubber faced, whiny Aussie. I'd far prefer Andy Schleck to win but sadly doesn't look like that's going to happen

The Gendarmerie are going to arrest Evans at the finish for the beating he's handing out to Schleck

Now we know why Cadel didn't feel the need to ride up Alpe d'Huez.

Schleck will win it eventually, he's only young. This is Evans last chance.

I've never understood all the Cadel love either. If AS wins, the tour would have been won on the Galibier and be legendary. If CE wins it'll have been all on the ITT and we'll have forgotten by next year.

The TT is pure racing though: no tactics, no team mates, just rider vs rider over the same course.

I'm not going to forget the ride Evans did on the Galibier.

It's a fine tradition to win tours on time trials, just ask Miguel Indurain

Andy can't ride downhill, can't ride around corners, isn't very good at changing gear, cant sprint. He's good at going uphill, that's it.
Until he becomes a better all round rider he doesn't deserve to win.

Whatever happens it'll have been won on the Galibier - either by Andy's great break or, more likely, by Evans superb closing down of the gap.

Voeckler for the podium?

Can't get a time check

Cadel knows how to position himself approaching corners better than so many others. Its not all about the straightest line/shortest distance and firing through.. his vision enables him to go faster.

Joking aside, I was gutted for CE when he crashed and effectivly lost any chance of getting anywhere in the tour the other year. Good effort from him this year.

Schleck's body language tells it all - he's knackered, lacking confidence and knows he's beaten.

Doesn't look like it - not gaining much on Frank (and has Contador breathing down his neck, so just hanging on for 4th).

Wow, just wow!

I was thinking Evans would come in 57-58 and still put time on the Schlecks. 55:40 was ridiculous!

Brilliant! This is the best tour i can remember. Just Cav to finish it off now. Pity about Wiggins. I think he would've been up there with cadel. Could've been a brit 1-2 for yellow and green!

Two whole days ago……

convert apparently in naive haste wrote :-

Evans has tour sewn up now I think.

to which aracer wrote:-

Eh? Have you been watching today's stage (or indeed the rest of the TdF)? Where exactly do you get that idea from?

Well….. I told you so! 😉 Experience and knowledge dear chap, experience and knowledge.

However I did also write...

will need to be 2min 15 plus ahead at the beginning of the ITT to have a chance of yellow in Paris.

Sorry, a little bit out there – looks like 2mins 30 was the magic number!

Now what shall I spend my £140 winnings on (£100 bet placed at 7/5)….Needs to be something sporty not more ale – feeling motivated to get fit again.

Good racing again today - good tour overall for the armchair pundit I thought.

edit - although I have to admit I did feel just a touch concerned early yesterday when he had his mechanical 🙂

Gutted for Andy Schleck, 3 times runner up in a row, still he got time on his side and he should win it one day.
