Great display from many today. Not least Nibali for doing on the dh what others wanted to do on the climbs.

By comparison to some years still pretty close at the top end. Still alot to play for but I still think it's Contador's to lose.

perfect timing too, our final presenter is wrapping up using the BC team as an example of success, and i'm about to start 'proper' work not involving sitting in front of the laptop

Indeed! So much for spoiling it for the highlights, I only started watching the last 20 mins and I'm bushed - fantastic stuff!

Wiggo will take more than 9 secs off Kloden in the TT and time off both Schleks, back up to 5th overall.
Amazing we're all disappointed The Wig is 6th overall!!! 😀

Don't be so downhearted, neither of the Schlecks are ace TTers (the younger on particularly bad) and it isn't liek Wiggo has announced that this is his last tour!

Awesome. Schleck bros destroyed the field!

I reckon Armstrong could have got back to them though, if he wasn't trying to stop wiggins getting back across. Lance looked strong at the top.

What happened to Thor today? He's marked down as 'delayed' on the Eurosport scroller thing!

had a look at the "prologue" Wiggins took a 40secs out of Andy, the TT is almost 3 times the length! with things so close..

So assuming Contador, Armstrong, Wiggins, and Kloden can all time trial better. still plenty of time for a reshuffle.

Then Ventoux to shuffle the pack again.

I doubt the other two stages will be much more than processions.

GC Now
1 Alberto Contador Velasco (Spa) Astana 72:27:09
2 Andy Schleck (Lux) Team Saxo Bank 0:02:26
3 Fränk Schleck (Lux) Team Saxo Bank 0:03:25
4 Lance Armstrong (USA) Astana 0:03:55
5 Andreas Klöden (Ger) Astana 0:04:44
6 Bradley Wiggins (GBr) Garmin - Slipstream 0:04:53
7 Vincenzo Nibali (Ita) Liquigas 0:05:09
8 Christian Vande Velde (USA) Garmin - Slipstream 0:08:08
9 Christophe Le Mevel (Fra) Française des Jeux 0:09:19

Probably too much to make up on Lance for Brad now looking at how he's going but with the TT, you'd expect him to make up a decent bit of time of the Schlecks tomorrow - probably 3+ minutes - so it'll all be about Ventoux!

yeah - he ain't gonna make it on Armstrong, who is a good TTer anyway. It's the brothers he might claw it back on...

Well, I 'disappeared' from my desk for a bit, caught the last 18km or so inc Contador's attack. Great stage. 🙂
Let's see what tomorrow's TT brings...

Really impressed with Andy Schleck today. I'm sorry Wiggins couldn't hold on, but watching the leaders climbing was fantastic.

Personally, I can't wait for the Tour to end....I need my life back..

I'm, er, rather obsessed by the TdF at present.

Go Wiggo in the TT!! Put time into the Shlecks and then stick on their wheel on Ventoux

Think LA did his job today. Marked Wiggins out. Contador said he was nervous about Wiggins' TT ability

The TT will see a major reschuffle (except no.1)

Stage victory for LA on Ventoux part of the Astana 'deal'???

Was recording it to watch when I got home when a couple of people at work started commenting on live coverage from some web site !!!! They didn't even have the decency to say "spoiler". So I quickly threw the lap top in the drawer and headed off home early. What a stage 🙂

had a look at the "prologue" Wiggins took a 40secs out of Andy, the TT is almost 3 times the length!

Prologue (I'll ignore Contador!)
Wiggins
Kloden +3
Armstrong +21
Schleck A +41
Schleck F +1:17

Now if we multiply those by 3 (I know it's not quite 3 times as long, but it's flatter than prologue, which should suit Wiggins a bit more, however much weight he's lost) and add to current GC times:
Schleck A
Wiggins +24
Kloden +24
Armstrong +29
Schleck F +2:47

Should be kind of interesting - Wiggins could be anywhere between 2nd and 5th on the overall (can't see him not getting past Frank even if that prologue was a bit of an anomaly)!

Just seen this from Bradley Wiggins on twitter. Anyone shed any light? I've been out riding all night and may have missed some news.

Di Luca, what a W****r! unbelievable

My use of stars.

EDIT: just saw this in the Wiggo thread

Don't get Di Luca at all - surely thats a four year ban! What a twit!

He'll be 37 by then so effectively career over! The big problem is that these are 'old' results, I believe that tests from this years Tour are being held back until the end/after - could make interesting reading!

On another front Kenny Van Hummel (lantern rouge) is out!! 😥

did anyone else Wiggins' slight fumble/stall at ~35km to go?

Wiggins was in amongst the forward pack with Armstrong keeping an eye on him, not wanting him to get close to Contador.
Wiggins drifted slowly to the left hand side of the road. Armstrong checked this despite being in front and moved across too.
Wiggins then appeared to stall on Armstrongs rear wheel loosing his tempo/rythm.
it looked to me and others watching as though Armstrong dabbed the brakes or stalled his pedal stroke knowing that Wiggins was behind him.

alpin - I spotted it but didn't read anything into it frankly. That said perhaps its the professionals way of saying 'please go away old chap' 😉

Lance I used to admire, I thought he was a bit of a up himself knob, but well he's deserved arrogance. Now I think he's a complete ****. He's comments about Contador are very wrong headed.
On the other hand Pellizotti is my new favourite rider, how can one man smile so much, even when coming second on a stage.

you seen Lance's butterfly bike? Damian Hirst at his most twisted. Did he have to use real butterflies?

Alpin yes I saw it, it looked like Armstrong did the equivalent of a brake check, however I don't think it was that way, Armstrong's bike was ghost shifting or slipping or something, it did it quite a few times in later part of the stage.
