Another very tough stage to call. I don't have a clue what's going to happen. Could even be Cav today.

Here's lots of cool pics though

http://totallycoolpix.com/2011/07/tour-de-france-2011-2nd-week-highlights/

And need to fetch some coffee for the boss? You obviously need Di2 for that.

If I were a betting man I might put a couple of quid on David Millar today. Not sure how good he is downhill though?

I said that to Mrs MW after the last hilights programme, but as you've already nabbed him I'm going to go for Gilbert or Goss for the win.

Looking at RM's pics link. #11 is just lovely.. best TdF pic I've seen I think. Love it.

A question tho.. where do the coloured jerseys come from? Cav's has HTC on it, does that mean they had them ready made and brought them along just in case?

Yes! Back in the day there used to be a bloke who'd stich on the relevant logo to a jersey just before the presentation but nowadays, it's a lot more professional and there are jerseys of each team/colour/design ready 'in case'.

Yes, I think the teams have to provide them in various sizes in case any of their riders get lucky - or if you're HTC you have a couple of greens in Cavs size, or if you're saxo bank a couple of yellows in Berties size.

The more interesting thing is the bikes, like was it last year when Chavanel had a yellow and green bike made overnight as he had both jerseys?

edit: pics here http://velonews.competitor.com/2010/07/news/tour-de-france-tech-ridden-once-a-look-at-sylvain-chavanels-special-yellow-eddy-merckx-bike_127059

About the pics, I like 39 (the liquigas riders expression), and 43.

Doesn't George Hincapie own a company that prints winners jerseys using dye sublimation?

Not that I think GH has the contract for the tour but I always thought the Jerseys were printed directly before the presentations rather than having a load in reserve just i case.

Nah, the climb is sufficient enough away from the winners line that either a punchier rouler ala Gilbert can win or Cav if HTC can pull any breaks back

Woah, just looked at that coffee bike link, that's well cool! Especially the shifting and the seat post, is this the bike that cancellara used in last year's tour of flanders??

I like the idea of there being a jersey printing machine in one of those big trucks following the tour about 🙂

Yeah, love the shifters in the grip collar. Didn't watch or follow last years tour of flanders, so I can only assume Cancellara rode around bringing the other riders coffee.

Rumours flew round cancellara was riding a stealth electric bike, given the way he just rode away from the others to take the win. Its the reason UCI now xray riders' bikes!! 😕

Will google, back shortly...

here you go

Nah you're all wrong.. It'll be a Frenchie, someone like Roy (again, only this time it might stick) Or Housler Or Gilbert Or Millar.

But no Huschoft please. No more Rollmops and Potatoes for supper ta.

😆

I didn't follow either races lol.

Breaks all over the place, it's almost a split in the peloton rather then a break.

When did Millar & Gilbert become French?

Oh and do you mean Haussler? If so, hes not even in the Tour is he?

They did say it was the RvV to start off with when he attacked on the Muur, then when he walked the PR they really kicked off with the rumour!

it's about the tour of California but this bikeradar article does mention that the TdF uses the same printing technology as Georges jersey printers.

terry wrist, is that the new version of bike porn?

Little Tommy, one for the ladies, eh?

Reminds of the joke with the punchline:

"I don't know why..." he said, licking his ear.

A Frenchie it'll be..

Gilberts not French nor Millar, only threw them in as a backup.

Hausler..hmmmm oh yeah, I was thinking it was 2010.. Ok so Farrar (harharhar)

Alright then maybe.... Dumoulin

A hypothetical possibility IF the current break can stay away:

EBH coming off Thor's wheel to snatch the stage victory???

Very nice, but unlikely.

I've missed most of it, been in meetings all afternoon, only just caught the finish. Will watch the highlights later, looks like a good stage, bunch blown to pieces on that one climb!

Will be interesting to see the GC after this.

Cav just coming in now, he'll keep green.

I was hoping for a GC win for Andy S (after last year's shenanigans). It doesn't appear that'll be happening now.

Yeah, looked nice SBZ.

Cadel has been my favourite to win the tour since Wiggins bombed out. He's yet to disappoint me either. My sadistic side is really looking forward to seeing Voeckler cracking spectacularly into a thousand broken pieces in a mixture of salty tears on the mountains. I just know it's going to happen, and I think he must too.

I like Contador and Sanchez but can't see either of them winning, the Schlecks are crap and don't deserve it, and Evans is too ugly.

Voeckler FTW even if he is French!

Yeah, for performances so far Voeckler deserves it.
