Today's the day.

22 teams
198 riders
31 nations represented at the start
23 riders who are eligible for the youth classification (white jersey)
Oldest rider: Jens Voigt (RNT) – 40 years, nine months and 13 days old at the start
Youngest rider: Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) – 22 years, one month and one day old at the start

6.4 km in the heart of Liège on the very same course where Fabian Cancellara burst onto the scene in 2004. I guess he wants to perform particularly well, even if just to get even for the bad luck which kept him out of the spring classics... Moreover, I have not forgotten he is the defending champion, having won the most recent prologue in Rotterdam (2010). In 2013, the 100th Tour will start directly with a road stage, just like last year’s, so it goes without saying that prologue specialists should do their best to seize this opportunity.

Tough one to call - can Cancellara do it? Or is he still not to top form? What about Martin? Maybe even Wiggins.

Also Dave Zabriskie doesn't have a moustache, which says a lot. Not sure what mind. And will Bradley's sideburns let him down aero wise?

Still plenty of time to create a team for fantasy TdF, or just to make last minute changes..

Coverage on ITV4 starts at 2pm I believe, and of course, I forgot the route map.

Looks like some sharp corners there.

Looking forward to this year. I might go and watch some of the Pyrenean stages, it´s just a couple of hours from here.

I really hope Cancellara can do it, just not sure of his form. Tony Martin - maybe a bit short for him? Bradley - no pressure there then!

Great ride by Chavanel to go into top spot!

Liege station looks very nice. Half the Tour is just looking at the scenery!

He's one of my favourite riders, kinda hope he keeps that spot. Great ride.

Here we go!

Shame about Tony Martin. Although, this gives Wiggo a great shot at yellow here.

Those kask helmets do look pretty funny. Wiggins 6 seconds down at the time check.

Ooooof! Close!

Now then, what can Cuddles and Ryder Hesjedasjeadsadsadjadal do? Not to mention Spartacus.

Fairly epic effort from Spartacus. Mind you, look at the legs on him.
