Went last year and ended up at the far side of the arc de triumph.
We learnt things for next time. Get there early for a good spot. Take camping chairs, cool box with enough food water for the day and plenty of things to occupy yourself with. Set yourself up in your spot and don't move unless you're about to s**t yourself. If you leave your spot, you will lose it. Don't use walls to sit/stand on for a better view, the police will shout at you and move you on.
A great atmosphere all around Paris. Enjoy

Get there early - take camping chairs, sit on them until the riders get there then stand on the chair to see over the people who are in front of you.
