In a continued effort to do something with the folders full of photos on my desktop I thought I would do a wee photo essay of some rides I've done in the Tayside area.
I love this area, such a variety of scenery and terrain. The 'Wildfowlers' ride was my take on an early season spring classics training ride, muddy singletrack, cobbles, farm tracks and a deliberate avoidance of any significant hills. I had bitten off more than I could chew with this one, including a tubeless faff-astrophe midride, so I didn't even get to include all the trails I wanted to, missing out some truly spectacularly muddy singletrack along the reed beds near Errol.
'The Law' is a gravel audax route put together by Trilogy.cc club, and is a leg breaker of a climber's route with some beautiful sandy/ dusty gravel and optional singletrack detours. It got the better of me when I rode it and I had to abandon plans for a glorious finale on the Dundee cobbles, so I'll be back next year for the event proper.
Macduff's Cross was a route I put together and rode for Rebound 2024. I've since discovered more and better gravel to add to it but it was a fun little tour of the area finishing with a crisp cider at the Kirkstyle Inn in Dunning.
Photos are in a rough order starting at Dundee and doing an anti-clockwise loop of the Tay Estuary to finish back in Dundee again.

Gravel on the outskirts of Dundee
Climbing up Dundee towards Liff.
Towards Ballindean, past the 'Teen Ranch'.
FFarm tracks nr/ Inchture.
Reed beds near Errol.
Weirdly evocative reed beds and muddy stream, made me think of Raymond Brigg's 'Bogeydom' for some reason. Low hanging mist added to the ambience.
Riverside trails between the Willowgate activity centre and Perth.
Spicey trail under the railway viaduct.
Crossing the viaduct into Perth.
Perth cycle path with sculptures commemorating the history of the Tay.
Incongruous signage! Leading to some suitably slippery and rootsy singletrack.
Slippery goodness.
Climbing out of Newbridge on the Fife Coastal Path, Perth in the distance.
Fife Coastal Path above Abernethy somewhere.
Fife Coastal Path singletrack climb.
Creich cemetry.
I'm not actually sure where this was, somewhere in the hills between Creich and Balmerino!
Monk's Road singletrack nr. Balmerino.
Old railway line above Wormit/Newburgh, heading towards the Tay Bridge.
Field edge descending towards Newburgh with the Tay bridge in the background.
Cobbles! One of several awesome wee cobbled lanes in Dundee.
Great pics, some atmospheric crackers there. Looks a great area to ride!
