Hiya - what's the deal with Marino bikes and tax - likely to get stung, how much?

Cheers Alex

Yes, VAT and import duty plus fees. I can't remember exactly but I think it was a bit less than £100. All in I think I paid under £450. It was a few years ago now so can't remember exactly but I know it was cheaper than any off the shelf comparable steel frame.

Isn’t it 20% VAT plus then whatever duty is due - I want to say 4% but I don’t know why.

Is that 20% on the price of the frame, or 20% on the frame + shipping?

You won't get stung, but you will have to pay the taxes/charges for buying a product and getting it delivered.

Not sure on VAT offhand (though I should know) but duty is a % of product plus shipping value. 4.5% duty on a bike frame into the UK.
