Looking around at tyres for my 26" full susser. Currently running 2.3 DHF + DHRII combo. Wouldn't mind something a little bit more voluminous that can handle west yorkshire gritstone/mud/roots.

Have seen the Conti 2.4 Der Barron + Trail King combo for a reasonable price. They're the new Protection+APEX versions. Haven't run a conti since a rubber queen about 6 years ago so can't really remember what they're like

Alternatively there's the new Addix Magic Mary / Hans Dampf

Basically I can't decide.

I like them. Last well, grip will though sidewalls probably aren't as tough as your Maxxis I've (touch wood) never torn one in many years of use.

Depends whether you like the profile though - I've never got on with Maxxis but like the Conti. YMMV

I really like the new Conti stuff. OH has 2.4 Trail Kings F&R on his FS and I've got a 2.4 TK on the front and a 2.2 on the back of my HT. My spare wheels have 2.4 Baron/Kaiser on them but they're miserable anywhere other than pushing up and plummetting down so they only get used for DH stuff (probably to do with the Kaiser on the back more than the Baron on the front to be fair) but I'd buy them again. I've got a new 2.3 Mountain King on another front wheel and although it worked well with a Minion SS on the back last year (until I broke the wheel the Minion's on) I much prefer the 2.4/2.2 Trail Kings I'm using now. All 26".

I have a 29" TrailKing and Baron, 2.4, both really good front tyres. Haven't tried them on the back. The Baron is good for woodland stuff even when it gets a bit wet, possibly not the best tyre for rocks (a relatively large gap-to-knob ratio).

TBH I like the DHR2 as a rear tyre, but i'm not getting on that well with the DHF on the front.

I've ordered the Trail King for now and will see how it goes. Thanks all for the feedback
