After today's near miss I need a hefty lock. The Litelok X1 is well reviewed.
With any of these expensive locks, what's to stop a scumbag putting something in the keyhole to stop me being able to undo it?
In answer to your question, nowt.
You could get one with Bluetooth/app release though, no idea how good they are mind.
I've the Abus Granit 6500 something or other, which is fine and im very happy with. Nowt but an anglegrinder is going to get through it, though that said that seems to be the order of the day with some thieves.
They also do a lighter weight version with an alarm on it.
Kicks out 100db when disturbed.
While I was at the hospital the other day someone came in at the front, locked their Ebike(R&M Delite) with this lock.
When I bought me Ebike, the shop offered me this model, but I went for the beefier non alarm version. I might in the future get this alarmed one.
Any lock with a key hole can be jammed up with glue, bluetack, end of a bic biro (does that still open most D locks with circular keys?).
I have a litelock, it seems pretty tough - but obviously I am not a bike thief so what do I know.
I saw a video of someone trying to cut one up with an angle grinder and failing, but perhaps there is some other way of breaking it open (dunk it in liquid nitrogen and shatter it with a lump hammer?).
I could leave my flaremax in central Cambridge locked up with it and report back if you like?
I just don't want to end up in a situation where the scumbag has buggered the keyhole leaving me with a bike that I can't get free.
I need a Sold Secure Gold lock to attach my bike to a radiator when I store it indoors. I'm looking for the cheapest on the assumption that if a thief enters my house with an angle grinder he'll be able to remove an expensive lock more or less as easily as a cheap lock (for example by cutting through the radiator). So far the cheapest I've seen is 35 quid. Any advance of that?

It's rare that locks are tampered with. It's the bolt cropper/angry grinder folk you want to delay. The NY FAGH is really good, if expensive/heavy. I have the mini which is a bit of a pita to fit as it's small, but it was ideal for high risk areas where I left my commuter road bike. Just enough space to get the rear triangle and round a sheffield stand. I'g get the normal size FAGH or a top end ABUS. A cheap motion alarm would be a good idea - Rolson so an alarmed padlock - I used to lock one to my bars.
I kind of work on the assumption that the incremental level of nefariousness between a cheap boltcutter and an expensive pair, or an angle grinder is so minimal it's not worth fretting over. If some scrote has a cheap boltcutter they can get into a van or lockup, if they can do that they can steal an angle grinder.
So on that basis the difference between my mid-range decade old kryptonite lock (it came with a sold-secure 'gold' rating for what that's worth, even though the replacement model only made it to silver) and the £100 several kg's version isn't worth stressing over, both would be equally vulnerable to decent tools.
If they're brazen enough to nick it from outside the shop in daylight, then the only solution unfortunately is not locking it outside the shop.

I lock mine at head height on the railings opposite the grand arcade, as the railing are on top of a wall, so he lock is above my head. Makes it much harder for someone to reach it, let alone attack. Plus it's a really busy pavement.

The d lock might be SS gold but the cable won't be. If the D lock won't fit round the frame&rad you need an SS gold lock that will. For "cables" you're into abus/pricey territory I think, you may find an onguard or kryptonite chain lock that will do it though.
The d lock might be SS gold but the cable won’t be.
It is, apparently. I was a bit surprised too.

That appears to be a 10mm chain not a cable?
I'm visiting an office again more often and utterly paranoid about leaving my bike anywhere.
Recently bought one an Onguard Brute after recommendations (think it was recommended on the forum here too). Sold Secure 'Diamond', 16.8mm thick shackle, and £26 at Amazon - other retailers available. Apparently lock isn't the most weatherproof is the only negative.

Erm...
I need a Sold Secure Gold lock to attach my bike to a radiator when I store it indoors. No in answer to the OP, (I have one of the original flexi liteloks and quite like it, difficult to attack with a bottle jack forcing it open) but no way would I be locking my bike to a radiator, No only is it an insecure thing to lock a bike to, you're likely to have to deal with a messy flood if someone does break in and nick it. Put an anchor in the wall to lock to.
Just make sure you have a 16.8mm shackle and it’s going to be bolt cutter or hydraulic cutter proof - Google lock picking lawyer for tests.
OnGuard Brute is the cheapest lock I found with a decent shackle that’s essentially cutter proof. Like the majority of locks you could get into it with an angle grinder but it’s stiff enough it needs both sides of the shackle cut so probably a few mins to get it off with a grinder. You’d hope someone would challenge them in that time - and I’d normally use 2 different locks just to make it super annoying for a thief to try and take.
With the onguard I’d just suggest you grease it regularly - it’s a lot cheaper than a kryptonite but it’s not as weatherproof.
@footflaps so that’s you!! Genius!
If it's a really tatty blue On-one Pompino, then yes - that's my town bike...

True dat. Anchor ordered.
Nowt but an anglegrinder is going to get through it
cordless angle grinders are about £20. even a bike thief can run to that.
get a grinder proof lock. if the buggers jam it up you can notify the police of teh attempted theft then get a locksmith or a bigger angle grinder to free it - by notifying the police you wont get the rozzers turning up when you free it or if you do you have the incident code so you can prove you are not a scallywag. (at least you have the bike)
get a grinder proof lock.
Now I'm intrigued. Wot's one of them?
I had one of mine stolen two weeks ago. Cable lock cut with croppers in seconds.
I bought a new York fotgettabout it. It's 3kg.
Surely its going to be easier to cut a frame than this lock making it inconvenient to ride away.
Which would be gutting. And the same with the safest lock in the world. If a battery angle grinder goes through a lock, it will go through Any frame.
My mates laughed at me for locking my bike up at head height in town. I feel fully vindicated.
Now I’m intrigued. Wot’s one of them?
D locks with a material added to the metal which jams up angle grinder blades, makes them much harder (but not impossible) to cut. Seen reviews were they withstood 5 blades and two 4Ah batteries - which is a lot of grinding!

CRC were out of stock of the grinder resistant Hiplok, but via a kind PSA on here, I snagged a cheaper Sold Secure Gold one for £40, from Paul Smith of all places
It should be enough to satisfy the insurance, which frankly, is all I can do.
