Hello!
This summer. I need to get from just outside of geneva to blurb st maurice, and a train is the most practical optoption. I however need to take my bike. Looking online.. there seems to be various answers for various trains! Does anyone have experience around the alps?

Also. Is it best to box the bike.. or leave it as it is?

Cheers

There are indeed different options for different trains. I think on that route you should be fine, it's all regional trains. Take your bike unboxed and put it in the bike rack on the train. Make sure the take trains with the wee bike symbol on the timetable.

For the TGV, you can take it on free if it's boxed/bagged, but you need to pay (10€?) to reserve a slot in the bike rack if you take it unpacked.

Don't know about TGV but the smaller trains I've been on this week each have a couple of hooks to hang the complete bike by the front wheel inside the carriage so you can keep an eye on it too.
No hassle, no bother, no extra cost and no booking in advance either. Dead good.
